I love how Oliver always refers to his works leading up to turbo was a monumental failure… But he is DJing again, that all comes from his era of Kryph. And all the music we’ve grown to love from Oliver started from his works under Mr. Tree. Splitting branches is one of his best albums. They weren’t monumental failures, they were stepping stones.
Great interview! Just saw Boyscott on Saturday in Manhattan and agree with your comment about Scott coming off as fun, warm and thankful when speaking in between songs.
ideas to ask him if he comes on next time 1. if he brings up his past record deal when he was 19, please ask him about which name or names he went by (one of the names we know he went by was tree and kryph) 2. ask him about his true debut album "splitting branches" and his true debut ep called "demons", mention the song "karma police" which got recognized by thom yorke if he is pretending he doesnt know what ep youre talking about 3. ask why he doesnt ever publicly talk about his past stage names that much 4. ask him about his old media collective "Tree collaborations" (he released splitting branches though this)
drummer stole the show a bit, amazing performances from everybody absolutely love this song and as it progresses every band member has their moments. seeing it live is definitely on my bucket list (please come to australia!)
