Back in 1993 I think it was the university of Indiana did a heart and stress test on a tenor drum player from star of Indiana (then a top 3 world class corp) . They measured his heart rate and oxygen intake. What they discovered from the results is in a ten minute program his heart and metabolic production is equivalent to an athlete in the middle of a triathlon . Just to set the demand on a members body. That test was one run through. Multiply that by ten hour days in summer for 8 weeks. The rehearsals are everyday except on travel and the occasional free day (laundry day). Changes to a program are constant so how the program looks in late may early June will look different by August at dci . I marched in the early 90s . It’s been a long time but still love the activity.

Babbit is one of my all time favorite players. Both for his talent and his heart. I had the pleasure of developing an online relationship with him before he passed. Truly one of the sweetest most genuine musicians I've ever encountered. He is greatly missed.😢
IMO, Jacob Collier has taken modern music, in fact all music, to a new level. Sure, Jacob has used modern technology to a new level but, He's done it on his own!!! He does the techy stuff. The point I'm trying to make is, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder would probably have relied on musical, come techy guys outside of what they were doing musically. Jacob however, has moved the musical dial with his musical talent combined with his technical skills. He's out there on his own at this time. Musos will obviously take some of his inovations and use them but Jacob is still the inovator for the rest to follow. Just look at the talent he has brought to the fore. Fabulous talent, that up until now were slow walking along in the background. Now, via Jacobs collaborations with them, they going viral on youtube, So thanks Jacob for sharing your amazing gift is all I can say.
