My comments sent to the Southern League: After the abuse in the game between Merthyr and Hungerford, I think you should consider deducting points from the home side. I attended the game where Hungerford came to Hendon, and their supporters were the friendliest and set an example on how to conduct themselves. I believe they only have one black player, so those comments must be quite humiliating, and reflect on the rest of the white fans who attend these games. If Merthyr do go up, as may be likely, that behaviour will have far damaging effects in the higher league. There are pro clubs who have far more fans at matches, plus like Weymouth, they can be quite boisterous themselves. That could create a clash which would be a bad advert fir the Southern League. They gained 3 points from that game, so a 3 point deduction would show the club and their fans that racist abuse won't be tolerated. I am a Hendon fan, so am neutral, but this league is a place I enjoy going to games, because it represents a side of life which emits all of the social problems there are. Hendon have more back players than most, but they are all committed players when on the field. The Southern League is a very good advert for football, but its reputation marred by these events
Never knew why Webley wasn’t given the opportunity to play league football. He ran the Swans ragged in this match. I’m sure there was another welsh cup match between us and Merthyr, and he did the same in that game too.
As a Stourbridge fan as a kid I used to love the Welsh Cup games visiting places like Inter Cardiff even Cardiff City (drew 3-3 at Ninian Park) but been to Newport & Merthyr Tydfil back in the Southern League
YES MERTHYR if only they played like this today EDIT:it is Merthyrs RU-vid channel, what do you expect? And besides it’s the same club that beat Atalanta burgamo
