Not yet but thanks for your interest. We want to compile our workouts somehow, it’s just a challenge on top of our swim-bike-run-job-life routine. We at least hope there’s some value in sharing through our videos. Thanks for watching!
I’m having trouble switching from pull buoy to no pull buoy. Once I start swimming with one I feel very uncoordinated without. If it don’t use it at all, I’m ok but I cannot go back and forth. Any tips?
Thanks for the question! It's hard to say exactly without a visual of your swim, but here are some things worth trying... one would be to consciously focus on your body position and core engagement in the water. Do your legs drop once you remove the buoy? That could be a head position issue. Another option could be doing some drills that emphasize body position in relation to your pull - fingertip drill, catch-up drill. Maybe start with shorter buoy intervals and work in regular free in between... for example, do 50 pull then 100 free, really focusing on body position... or even alternating between 50 free and 50 kick. Swimming is definitely a challenge and harder if you are an "adult-onset swimmer", but hopefully some of this can be helpful to you. Let us know if you try any of it and how it goes.
@@TeamSaundersTri thanks so much! I’m 10” per 100 faster with a pull buoy than without, it’s a staggering difference. I’ll focus on body positioning. Thanks again!
It’s actually fresh spring fed water. They drain and refill every night. But yeah, it does appear foggy. The Deep Eddy experience is that it’s typically 68° water and packed with lap swimmers all hours of the day. Still fun even though it wasn’t the perfect morning that day.
Oh I didn't realized y'all were just down in Austin. I'll have to drive the 3 hours from Dallas and join y'all for an OWS. That spot looks awesome. Just did my first 70.3 in Waco yesterday. It was a hot one!
Yep! Holding it down in Austin! Congratulations to you and taking on your first 70.3. What a tough day and a well earned accomplishment for sure. How was your race?
Hoping the best for anyone in the path of Milton and hopefully it won't impact the 70.3 in Haines (Colin's race). Realize it is still a way's out, but not looking pretty for Fl over the next few days.
It’s scary for sure. Growing up on the coast we know all too well the anxiety that builds when a storm approaches. We can only hope it minimizes as much as possible and moves in and out quickly.
See what we put up with, @colinlord ? What…you think we’re all just gonna sit on the couch, drink beer and watch football all day when you come to visit? Pshhhh.
What is the difference - what is different from other coaches. Curious to know. Not nearly enough strength. It should be every day, unless you are not into strength.
For us, basically it’s about finding the right balance between having big enough volume (some coaches were on the lower end that left us fading at the end of each discipline in races) but incorporating the right intensities (some coaches had us going way too hard way too often = frequent injuries)…doing our own thing allows us to dial in a very personalized approach to hit the sweet spot with volume and intensity that we know works for us.
This was super interesting - so exciting to learn more about the plan that's brought awesome results this season, especially an in-house plan. I always wondered why Team Saunders used coaches, when you both have years of triathlon experience! And it's always refreshing to hear that reminder that it's supposed to be fun.
Thank you for sharing! We’ve learned so much from others over the years and hope we can share some nuggets that are helpful. Paying it forward, hopefully! Coaches are great resources, but it’s been extra special AND fun keeping it in-house, as you say. 😉
I'm sitting here thinking, "I'm not training enough..." but then I remember I'm just training to complete. Y'all are training to compete. Y'all are crushin' it! Oh, and I turned 39 last month too! Happy Birthday!
Happy belated birthday! We’re definitely taking up our training. It’s taken years of consistency to build up to this point. We are excited to add a new twist to our training. All the best in your training, too!
You got that right! We have an opportunity to really dive into prep for this race and it’s exciting. A level of commitment we’ve never had before. Gonna make the most of it!
Daaaang seems like I should've picked Texas for my first, but I chose Waco because it's closer. Just did the Hotter'n Hell Hundred in Wichita Falls, TX so I think I'll enjoy the "cooler" weather in October compared to that. Great video. Gonna put a few of these on my bucket list.
Nah…you’ll love Waco! And then you can do Texas. Honestly, there are no bad races in our Top 10. We’d do any of them again, honestly. Congrats on conquering HHH. We hope to get up there and do that one year ourselves.
When I did Waco (which transfered to after 2 TX Covid postponements) it was a late start (due to full the day before) and was hoping for cooler weather especially for the run, but it is TX and when I got off the bike to start the run that day the heat index was about 90. But at least it was later in the day so it did start to cool down after the sun was down etc. Also, as they mentioned the bike course has changed since then too. Actually, I think Caitlin was on the course, and Tiffany was there supporting that day, but don't remember seeing them.
@DavidC-rt3or - Yep! It was an interesting year. Caitlin raced but Tiffany came down with bronchitis the week before, so ended up doing sherpa duty instead. The later start was interesting. Not bad if it hadn’t been for the heat and wind.
1) TX (logistically easy, flat bike/run (weather can be a bit unpredictable in Apr though 2) Hawaii (swim by far clearest water, heat/humidiy knock it down for me.) , 3) Waco.. Unfortunately, it wasn't my day for doing Cda (but what I saw of the area..1 transistion area in a shaded part of a park.. lake swim (likely wetsuit legal), bike course (mostly closed course) has hills, and run is through town with a lot of support).. likely would have made it above Waco (maybe even Hawaii but only because of the heat/humidity factor. Scenery wise was great and friendly folks in town.
This is great. I’m signed up for Ohio 25. Did Iowa 24 agree with your assessment Ohio must be a good one for it to be 2 over chart. Don’t chatt 70.3 twice and loved it. Looking forward to Ohio. Thanks yall keep rockn
None of the Zwift stuff including hub is approved in the Mywhoosh Sunday race clubs or premium events. So not worth getting it if you're the competitive cyclist. 👎 Best off with Wahoo gear or Atom.
Heya 👋🏼 ! Thank you for the kind comment. We’re glad you found us as well. All the best on your journey to the finish line in Waco. We have a few videos from past Waco races, too! 😉
