Pardon the noob question, I have no wrestling or BJJ experience (striking only). After the awesome arm throw, was Dante trying to go for an arm bar submission? If he learns to adapt his wrestling to BJJ, it's going to make for some exciting grappling matches.
There was no need to crank the submission that fast. She should have applied it more slowly and given a chance to tap out. She was in no danger of losing her dominant position. VERY poor sportsmanship.
Oh boy a bjj blue belt can’t out wrestle a former d1 wrestler, what a surprise!!! I guess jiu jitsu guys absolutely suck at wrestling (sarcasm) You can’t compare 2 different arts in that way. That’s like mocking wrestlers for not knowing jiu jitsu, makes no sense.
It was the finals of the Absolute division, so there was a significant weight difference. James (smaller guy) defeated Elias on points at Summer Trials in June.
Its not very easy to detect when to tap during kimura lock. You will feel the need to tap when it is already too late so, Be very very careful or better yet, Don't do the Kimura lock at all.
This was SOOOO close! Looking back, there were some adjustments I could’ve made to finish him (or break his arm if that’s what it takes). But still really good defense by Michael. The armbar was tight enough to pop his elbow though, so it was mostly determination not to tap to that…pretty sure it’s gonna be sore for awhile. Still, great match, great skill from Michael, and I really enjoyed it! 💪🏼🔺🔥☝🏼
@@sammygee2387 it’s a pretty cool medal though! 🤣 Worth mentioning that there was a cash prize as well. Doesn’t change your point though and I agree. Not enough, in my opinion, to make it worth losing an arm.
Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Illinois, Missouri, and Wisconsin were all represented. Might have to change it to the Midwest Championships next year!
How do you score two points from just standing up and not actually doing anything...? Flexing after pulling guard and barely winning by pretty bogus points is kind of embarrassing.
@@johnnycaralta I would need you to provide more context about the match you’re referring to in order to give you a solid answer or explanation. Always open to discussing rules and their enforcement and always open to admitting where we got it wrong.
@@subspectrumbjj Jordan Mills vs Bode Conlan. They were both sitting down, Conlan with closed guard, Mills with a Hindu guard(?), not sure what it's called. Conlan stood up and was given two points.
@@AnonymousViper7 it had nothing to do with strength. One grappler was purely more skilled than the other. Unfortunately the less skilled competitor was not truthful when designating their rank which led to, as you mentioned, a big mismatch. We’ve since put measures in place to ensure this does not happen again.
