This video is actually not from the 1970's. Erin Stevens & Steve Mitchell first met Frankie in 1986 and convinced him to come out of retirement. I was lucky to benefit from this. Frankie!!

Great video! Just wish you’d shown a little more of the ‘finished product’ perhaps with some more simple embellishments.

Thanks, but the gymnasium echo messes with my ears. If you were doing your instruction in a room with acoustical ceiling panels, it would be very easy to understand you. Thanks.

I’ve always had trouble with this step because I have trouble with the idea that if the lead doesn’t move out of the way, I will hurt him. Most of the leads at the ballroom I dance in are small, while I am 6 foot and large framed from sports.

I, Walter Dill (Seattle's Living Traditions Dance), produced these videos in 1994 just after Frankie's 80th birthday. We sold them world-wide until 2004 or so. These included Lindy Hop 1, 2, 3, Shim Sham and a documentary called Swingin' at the Savoy, which doesn't appear to be on RU-vid. They were shot in Seattle in a set we built in the Ballard Oddfellows Hall. Erin Stevens was the person who initially brought Frankie back into the dance world and is a superb instructor so was perfect for partnering Frankie. Rosemary Langford, who at the time was in our dance classes and a producer at Seattle's KIRO TV, coordinated all the video production and did the editing. Frankie's actual favorite tunes were not economically feasible to license, so we hired jazz pianist, Barney McClure, and a drummer to create tunes reasonably close to Frankie's favorites. It appears all the copies of these videos on RU-vid have eliminated the credits. Many others were involved. To find the other videos, look for the same background behind Erin and Frankie. What were Frankie's favourites (or the ones he mentioned at the time)?

@@CenTiSoN Look for a CD called Really Swingin'. We produced it with Sony Music Special Products to go with the videos. There should be copies floating around.

I think it's 80% echo from being in a gym. They would need lapel mics or headset mics. I've had some in person teachers use them. Looks like they prefer not to foe their classes, and these recordings are just s conveniently nice way to document and share some takeaways from their classes which is nice for us!

I loved the recap at the end while you were dancing with music. I don't think any other videos use this format so when you have to practice by yourself it's trans-formative to getting the technique and counts. Thank you for the great lesson!

This looks like such a great drill! But how do you keep the 'pull' on 1 from making the follow think it's an inside/ outside turn? Is this something you can try in social dancing? Thanks so much for your videos!
