I’m going to Purdue for Aerospace Engineering on a full ride, they have a 3% black population and I am very scared. However the people at the Minority Engineering program are very warm and welcoming. I applied to Tuskegee but didn’t get my financial aid in time. I went to a 97% black high school so I am nervous, but just have to be open ig 😭😭😭 I’m also from the south and don’t want to lose my accent.
I dislike when people say, "You have to know how to talk to white people and other ethnicities." That's dumb because they all speak English and just because you go to predominantly black schools does not mean you don't interact with other cultures of people in your everyday life.

Back in the day, Blacks had very little choice. For instance, there was only one State supported Black college, in Arkansas, what is now UA Pine Bluff. It was Ark.AM&N College prior to the 1970s. There were 2 private colleges for Blacks, which most Blacks couldn't afford. The point here: Blacks have chices now, but should honor who got them here: HBCUs!

If you try both go HBCU undergrad and PWI grad. I know MANY people that have taken this route and they are all very successful. If you are successful at an HBCU you will be successful at a PWI. There is nothing like attending an HBCU and that is something you may not realize until after you graduate or leave the institution.
This video really informative like yalls HBCU’s sound like so much fun, but even just reagukat school in America definitely got better opportunities. I hope I may be able to get to experience the HBCU or other American University campus life/school life. (Canadian by the way 🇨🇦😂
