Don't forget the starter leaders most pre release will use those kits. I don't think they great in sealed but yeah. I agree with leader choices but think Rey is a cut above.
Nice to get a decent overview of the new leaders before the new set drops. It'll be interesting to see the combinations people put together with set 1 and 2.
So how many boxes is 'enough' for collecting a play-set? I did 6-7 on the first set, still holding some for listings, but definitely don't have my own play set and have had to make some strategic decisions on what I want to play. Example, sold off two Vaders at the high point, great turnaround for me, but don't have any Vaders for long term play. Also, just realizing my play time will be, at best, once a week and more likely once a month so there's the joy of the hobby and the reality that I just don't need a full play set if I can have fun without all the fancy cards and still build somewhat competitive decks.
Seems like an awesome strategy to me. To get a full playset, I think you need to open about 13 boxes. Figure that there are 16 legendaries. If you want 3 of each, that’s 48 total. Figure about 3.75 legendaries per box. 48/3.75=12.8 boxes. You may end up with 4 of one and 2 of another…but trading should get you very close. Sell off a showcase and some hyperfoils, and you can recoup quite a bit.
Literally came to that exact math after asking, hah. May try this for set 2 and, if all else fails, sell the lot of it! Hyperfoils have been great for recouping value, especially when they hit L status. Overall, one of the most fun pack openings I’ve ever done. Thanks for the response.
Hey man, I appreciate your content. Ironically, I agree that the shorts lost some of their charm. After a few, they became repetitive haha. If you want to do an unboxing, go ahead, but I'm not sure there's enough material to make individual videos for each item haha. I do appreciate that they're on a separate channel.
Yes, if you’re up against mostly vigilance decks, an extra Relentless and Devastator could come in, and the probe droid and Cartel Spacer typically come out. Motti is also great against control, so he may come in while pulling out a Gladiator Star Destroyer. That card is good, but against control, we’d rather play 2-3 units a turn instead of one big one.
The ambush is a “when played” trigger. But since you can choose the order “when played” abilities resolve, you choose the “when played” ability of Vader to search your deck first. If you don’t find a snow trooper lieutenant, you’ll just end up with one attack. If you do find one, the snow trooper lieutenant’s “when played” becomes a “nested action.” (You can read about those in section 6.12 of the rule book on page 28). You fully resolve that when played…allowing Vader to attack for 7 to a unit or base. Then “Ambush” will resolve, allowing you to ready and attack again..as long as there is an eligible ground unit for Vader to attack.
@@SpaceBearUnlimited that's incorrect, if you trigger the snow trooper you can attack but then Vader is exhausted so you are not able to trigger Ambush
@@SpaceBearUnlimited I am pretty sure you can't attack twice. After you trigger the Liutenant effect, Vader becomes a +7 eligible for an attack, but if you do it, Vader is exhausted. After that, the ambush is not a playable ability, because Vader isn't ready anymore. Happy to be proven wrong!
@@DarthEdge Check out section 7.5.5 of the rules on page 28. It says . “Ambush” is a keyword whose effect is the same as the triggered ability: “When Played: If there is an enemy unit that this unit can attack, this unit may ready and attack that enemy unit.” So Vader would get to ready. I think a lot of folks just kind of skip the fact that ambush units enter play exhausted and then ready. But Ambush readies them.

Great question. In this version, I’d say he’s a must-have. I’d make a lot of changes to the deck if you don’t have Vader. The snow trooper lieutenants, sneak attacks, etc. all become less useful. In a month, with the release of set 2, I think you can probably switch him to Maul…and bring in more of an underworld theme.
I have a list that runs more vehicles like escort skiff i run 3 relentless as a top end 2 devastator and i run the event prepare for takeoff for bossk synergy plus it rarely misses so its a 2 resource draw 2 most times
Red three can be good in aggro decks like Sabine. It can make others have 1 make attack and that is super important in aggro decks. Personally I used a Sabine deck recently at my local card shop and red three was very useful.
Thanks for this. I’ve played Palpatine with lots of success at regular tournaments but for the showdown I was going to swap to Vader Blue. At the last minute I saw your video, got excited again for the old Emperor, and using your core list with some changes I managed to take down the whole thing :) I’m very happy with this achievement, and your list and video were the main inspiration.
Enjoying everything I've seen so far. Like others have said, I'd like to see some twin suns content and in lieu of that, decks that can use out of aspect cards effectively
