@@dzinator4225 It's not synth. There is a microphone on the front sideline directly in front of the trumpet section. Parts of the feature were given delay and reverb effects when picked up by the mic. The echo you hear is an effect placed on the audio of the actual trumpets playing live.
This is the video that pushed me not to cut myself from Bluecoats. It was the day after February camp and I literally saw no reason to continue. I was on callback status for 2 months and I thought there was no way I’d ever get contracted anyways. And so I went home(I’m just a high school junior) and told my parents that I wasn’t going to do it and that it was too hard and that I’d given up. Then I tried to avoid DCI videos for a few days and then I clicked on this one. I watched it and it reinvigorated me to go out and do it. It’s now the beginning of May and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to continue on with drum corps.
I don't want to discourage you from writing from the heart, but this reveals that you make emotional decisions. Here's a substitute course of action: 1) Plan for if/then scenarios. If you make it then do this, if you don't make it then do that. 2) Have a backup plan. 3) Don't put your eggs in one basket. 4) Contact others who are in your same predicament. Ask them what their plan is. 5) Develop a checklist of action items to improve your performance. 6) Lie about your age. Falsify documents. Hey if you want it that badly, do anything.
As soon as it said, "Concord, Blue Devils" chills went all across my back. WOW! What an amazing performance! Wish I was there to see it. Well theres always next year.
...love the appreciation of this crowd... I felt the same way seeing BD at the Rose Bowl this past summer -- it should be part of every summer: DCI - anywhere, USA. Blue Devils & SCV...mind blowing shows this year!
This show lacks cohesion. The drum line and pit are doing their own thing, while the horns are doing theirs. The show is a mess, visually. Lots of screaming trumpets and loud chord blasts here and there aren't enough to win. The 16 snares in the beginning is still dirty and should have been scrapped early in the season.
Well would you look at that, blue devils, your 2017 dci world champions. Sorry what did you say? Chord blasts and screamers arent enough to win? Huh. Guess it is enough to win...
BD's show had airtight cohesion, both thematically and musically. Musically, at the beginning we get a flurry of historic tunes from BD's past shows, we hear a jazz version of Flight of the Bumblebee, and progress to the present with a never seen before extended Jazz trombone solo in drum corps-- a full range of the traditional past to the innovative present. Thematically, the show centers around butterflies morphing from larvae 1:53 into flight 11:46, much the same as the BD organization has done. That's cohesion. Versus Crown's show-- I've seen broken jukeboxes with more cohesion. You may now suck it.
I saw them in San Antonio. Insane show this year. Thanks for posting. If I figure out how to post s video on RU-vid, I'll post the ones I took. I did live stream some shows on my FB page.
What an ignorant comment. What other corps this year is doing a full 25 yard wide rotating quadruple lined box? The move is incredibly exposed, and difficult.
You should be proud. I have been to many band competitions because I was in the band and my daughter was in the band. This is a truly excellent performance.
