12:68 IT IS SO EPIC - O.K. It might not hold up as a movie nowadays but as a novelised story, have the paperback in German, it is still great fun to read.
I think you meant 12:58. One thing I liked about the Alex/Maggie relationship is that she wasn't given to him as a token hot chick prize for being a hero. I mean, you can see that there if you're looking for it, but in the story, she definitely went with him to fulfill their dreams of getting out of the trailer park, after dealing with some momentary insecurities and fears. I think the special effects are still good enough, when you understand it as a video game movie. They're not nearly as immersive as they were when it came out, so they have definitely aged. Not like TRON, which is still just as perfect as it was when it was made (which is not quite perfect, but still great).
I could not have done it without you. Thanks again, man. I'll hopefully see you in California in a bit (dunno how long it's going to take to get me moving around yet, obviously).
Not 6 hours after I posted this, Starliner made it to orbit. Since getting to orbit has been the issue with it, I think we have reason to believe those two astronauts are going to be safe, this time. I still believe they should have launched it unmanned a couple more times while working out the kinks.
Your average therapist doesn't add it up like this, either. My rehab therapist and I put it together when I was in rehab, and it was a shared epiphany.
Both ST1 & ST5 are below mediocre at best, and for me they are saved by the character moments ... . Without them there'd be nothing to recommend these movies and I would have watched them less than a handful of times .
13. Star Trek In To Darkness 12. Star Trek Beyond 11. Star Trek (2009) 10. Star Trek The Motion Picture 9. Star Trek Insurrection 8. Star Trek Nemesis 7. Star Trek Generations 6. Star Trek First Contact 5. Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan 4. Star Trek V The Final Frontier 3. Star Trek III The Search For Spock 2. Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country 1. Star Trek IV The Voyage Home
I love ALL Star Trek movies as, whatever the Era depicted (or the oddities involved) I'm just grabbing some popcorn and laughing or crying as necessary.
Thank you! I've been saying that for years! I'd also rate TMP considerably higher. I do agree with the Abrams movies and Nemesis being at the bottom of the pile, though I'd add Generations to the list.
I enjoyed Generations the first time I watched it, and I watched it on VHS on a tiny TV. I did rate Star Trek V higher than Generations, right? I forgot my own rankings. Oops.
I haven't seen the director's edition. I might easily change it's ranking when I've seen that. I've only seen the VHS release of the original theatrical version. It's on my todo list, but man, it's hard to get motivated to watch that movie.
@@davefancella, I actually enjoyed Abrams' 2nd & 3rd movies. The first was an awful storyline & Nero was naff. Spock Prime was great in it though. The cast is good and I was born on the exact same day as Karl Urban, who did a wonderful job emulating Bones. TMP & TWOK Director's Editions are a treat. TUC was released with a few extra scenes to promote the VHS release in '91 & is far better than the Theatrical release. Just with they'd do a proper Director's edition of 3, 4, 5, 6......................
Here's my take. STAR TREK 1979 4/10 Better than the Abrams films I guess. ST 2 WRATH OF KHAN ✝ 10/10 ✝ GOOD FRIDAY ✝ ST 3 SEARCH FOR SPOCK ☦ 10/10 ☦ EASTER SUNDAY ☦ ST 4 VOYAGE HOME 8/10 Important Messages! ST 5 FINAL FRONTIER 10/10 Look for the deeper meaning. ST 6 UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY 🏮 10/10 🏮 Intense Mystery! 🏮 GENERATIONS 7/10 Shatner, Stewart, McDowell! FIRST CONTACT 3/10 Better than Abrams I guess. INSURRECTION 9/10 Riker and Deanna back together! NEMESIS 🥶 10/10 🥶 My blood is frozen. 🥶 GALAXY QUEST 10/10 It's great. We'll count this. Abrams 2009 zero! He ruined STAR WARS. Why not ST? INTO DARKNESS zero! Why didn't Abrams just smash a crucifix? BEYOND zero! George Takei was gay. But Sulu WAS STRAIGHT!
I almost went back to add Galaxy Quest, but I didn't want to have to re-record everything. I'd put it right before Star Trek V because "Why does God need a starship?" is such a great line. It really makes the movie work.
My intense hatred of INTO DARKNESS comes from this. Abrams took something borderline sacred and beautiful. (WRATH OF KHAN and SEARCH FOR SPOCK) And he turned it into this absurd mockery of REAL ST. He may has well have spit on the BIBLE. ✝
I agree whole heartedly. I didn't even want to look at it to make this video, which encouraged me to write a python script to extract clips from a video.
This is all ignoring the very real problem of casting an englishman to play an Indian prince. Like I said in the video, it was already problematic to cast a Mexican in that role, regardless of how wonderful Ricardo Montalban was, but going a step further and casting literally India's conqueror? Star Trek has generally tried to do right in their casting decisions. George Takei is Japanese American, played a Japanese American. Linda Parks, unfortunately, is Korean American and she played a Japanese American, so that one's a bit iffy, even though she did a really good job with Hoshi. I would like to say that it's fine to dis a villain like that, and there are probably plenty of Indians who would prefer that their genocidal villain would be better played by an Englishman anyway, but I think all the insensitivity in the movie can be summed up by that one casting decision. Abrams just didn't care. He was about the explosions and the action, and the characters and story were always at best a second priority, which is the opposite of how Star Trek has been made.
Over on the Shuttlepod Show, Gates McFadden directly addressed this question. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rf5yhx-eqTU.html&pp=ygUec2h1dHRsZXBvZCBzaG93IGdhdGVzIG1jZmFkZGVu
Cronus was a baddie and he was the greek god. Both Camulus and Morrigan where system lords of Celtic mythology. Also, Svarog was Slavic deity. Theres probably more.
Hey, you spotted the slav. I'm going to upload a longer form video that addresses these points. But now I have to make sure to correct something I said about nobody noticing the slav.
I always get that one mixed up with the ones in Supernatural. Good call! But then, it's the Scandinavians that are considered by white supremacists to be the superior race. I love stargate, don't get me wrong. I wouldn't bother criticizing if I didn't.
