I have benn a student of Futshan Yip Man Wing Chun for 32 Years in the Ho Kam Ming family Lineage. Thank You so much for the making of this video. Sincerely Sifu Wise
This is essential knowledge for all training in Wing Chun and wish to have a greater insight to it's history and Ip Man. Many thanks for this being shared
Un témoignage émouvant, le wing chun est ultime et tellement subtil ! il reste encore beaucoup à faire pour le futur, le wing chun est un art martial suprême qu'il faut préserver.
Great video! Only something overall (not specific for this video, just overall): To write the chinese names in 3 single names is a little bit outdated. Today in 2021 the western world has adopted to writhe cantonese and korea names with hyphen, and mandarin names together. From today´s standards, Wong Shun Leung should be written as: Wong Shun-leung or Shun-Leung in cantonese and Huang Chunliang in mandarin (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wong_Shun-leung) Same with other names like Shan Wah-shun or Yim Wing-chun (mandarin Yan Yongchun) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yim_Wing-chun en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chan_Wah-shun Not important but maybe interesting for some people.
Wing Chun Jamaica checking in, studying Ip Man lineage for 20 years other lineages for 10 years and watching this documentary made me cry, I feel a sense of coming home and being connected to my family world wide. Beautifully done.
Is there a connection between Wing Chun and the color yellow? I have watched many different RU-vid videos from organizations all over the world, and it appears that many of them have yellow shirts or have yellow stripes on their trousers or lots of yellow in their school logos. There seems to be yellow everywhere. Is there a reason for this?
I've always had a strong interest in martial arts and it's good to hear the Chinese government is supporting Chinese martial arts. There is a rich history of cultural tradition that live on through the federations and associations . The lineages of many traditional styles like hung gar , bagua , jow pai , and drunken style to name a few , are seen today for the treasures they are As there is much interest nowadays from the states and other countries. As a martial arts I never stop learning , and I've been at it for over 20 years and I feel like I've just touched the surface.
"Although Ip Man is widely credited for bringing awareness to the style and made it famous, the originator of Wing Chun was a woman. She was Shaolin Abbess Ng Mui, a master of Shaolin Kung Fu who used this knowledge to invent a way to take advantage of the weaknesses found in other Shaolin systems." --Ancient Origins net Bruce Lee took it to another level yet these brave women of martial arts, from a time much less tolerant than our own (and that is even questionable), are the true pioneers and masters of ingenuity. Abbess Ng Mui and her first student, the name sake of the form Yim Wing Chun, were feminists of the kind no woman of today's privileged class would have any concept of and no man of this 21st century could appreciate. - Wing Chun History- www.wingchunconcepts.com/historyofwingchun.php
If you read the white crane lore you will find a very similar story but it predates the Wing Chun story by many many years. Also the system was created by 5 Shaolin persons, not just the 1.
A história do Wing Chun de Macau me remete para minha adolescência quando iniciava na academia de Kung-fu, e me parecem muito familiar todas as apresentações. Tenho saudades daquela época. Obrigado pelo vídeo.
Wing Chung is Simply Globally Awesome! But; there are many Rare and Hidden styles still left to be uncovered! Chinese History is at least 5000 years old! I donot venture into the Martial Branch Of my Cultural Heritage; I leave that to others....But; if U want Really East West History; try the following Chinese Labour Corp; World War One. European Theatre. Chinese Military Mission World War Two. And Joseph Warren STILWELL. Furthermore; the dark History of Hong Kong during it's occupation in World War Two by the Japanese. For now; I will NOT steal your thunder....Long Live Wing Chung; long live Kung Fu!
