@@robertsandiford6223 I think they would work with the bigger boxes despite being advertised for the SH23 I think you need to buy the different ends for the SH36 if they don't come with the set
i really like this bike i was ready to buy it as a second small commuter but the valve check every 5000 klm made me change my mind. Why Suzuki had to do this? My DL650 v strom valves were checked in a garage for first time at 90.000 klm and they said that it was adjusted fine and i should check again at 150.000.
@@christosx13 This engine uses a simpler design to adjust the clearance and honestly it's simple to do after first couple of times I wouldn't worry and it takes a while for it to go out of spec. I actually have a DL650 too and they compliment eachother well
Yes since with 47 and 58L top box there is a wobble around 40MPH then it goes away around 50MPH. If I remove the top box there's no wobble, this is without pannier installed. I haven't tested it with only the panniers though. Also note this is a common thing with this bike.
@@MJP_87 Some people say tapered headset bearings (the roller kind not the one with balls) might fix it, but I just live with it now a lot of other bikes do this too with top boxes, when the bearings are worn I'll replace them and see if it indeed stops the wobble
Thank you for this video! What are your thoughts about which is the darkest model? Gold seems darkest? I have the dark smoke but it is not dark enough. On my previous AGV mirror it was very dark. Perfect for summer sun. The Shoei dark smoke is just to light in the summer time so I need something even darker.
Excellent, excellent review. Thank you! I have a dark smoke shield which I have been perfectly happy with on my old rf-1200. Just picked up a rf-1400 and need to make a choice on a darker shield. Been looking at the transition or the trusty dark smoke. Never would have thought there would be such a difference ‘looking through’ the shields.
@@richard238 It's a manual switch so if you left it up on the hot setting it will stay in that setting when you turn the bike on. But do note I wired it to a switched relay/power box if you wire it to the battery directly it'll always stay on and drain your battery
@@bikersquest i wanted to do the relay thing i just want it to heat up when the ignition is on so do the switch go:. 1ST POSTION off.. up one for low and up again for high
While it's questionable how much magnets help, they certainly don't hurt. They will trap ferrous particulates, (the most damaging kind) that are finer than the filter media will trap. The question is, what percentage are those magnets actually collecting? Many proponents argue, that the magnets at least serve to prolong the life of the filter media, reducing the possibility of bypass, which allows all debris to recirculate through the engine. Not a good thing! If you change oil and filter regularly, this becomes less of a concern.
how do feel about the pro shade now? Im thinking about getting some aftermarket photochromic visor my arai but I do like the versatility of the pro shade and I like my visor with the most clarity I could get.
It's okay, it can cause some buffeting depending on your bikes windscreen setup in certain positions and if it gets dirty from a previous ride in rain etc you may have to clean it unlike internal visors, but on the plus side it doesn't fog up. Ultimately a photochromic visor is nicer but I don't know if the aftermarket ones are correctly safety tested so don't trust them.
@bikersquest Thanks, im looking but some look too small 25 litres, your 47 litre box wouldn't of thought was that big, thanks for replying I'll look forward to next video..
Yep, the clutch bite is more consistent not super far out and the wheel actually stops with the engine running on the centre stand when warm (not that this matters that much but before the adjustment it would spin still).
The biting point may feel off as in it engages right att the and of the movement + a really floppy lever, Suzuki recommends doing this adjustment every 3000 miles I believe
@@bikersquest Would it not be possible to adjust the clutch at the lever only? Do you have to do it from the engine side when you cannot do it from the lever anymore? Sorry, I'm new to this.
@@ukgardener973 Definitely worth adjusting on your Strom if it's mentioned in the manual clutch adjustment section, it will likely fix that issued you mentioned. You can't fix it from the lever side. One other indicator I had was after the bike was warmed up on the centre stand in 1st gear the rear wheel would still spin with the clutch in but wouldn't after the adjustment
Nice! It's a pity there are no polarised options though. I use polarised sunglasses in the car, but they tend to fog, and adjusting them in/out of the tunnels is impossible in the full face helmet :/
I reckon the paper oil filter would've caught the ferrous particles really but as you saw in the video, there is still some magnetic material to be caught. I guess it doesn't hurt.
The cylinder walls and piston rings are ferrous, and they're what shed the most particulate matter. The cam shaft and lifters are also ferrous, and those components are the most susceptible to wear caused by fine particulate matter. Magnets can trap particles that would otherwise pass through a typical filter media.
Took about 2 weeks I think, not cheap indeed but seem about the same quality you get from Shad/Givi racks to be fair. I kept the stock front sprocket size but fit a JT one due to chain wearing out
@bikersquest Have thought about getting same setup as you, panniers and topbox never ordered from Aliexpress, think extra luggage will help on the bike, no need to carry rucksack
@bikersquest I ride on my own, definitely topbox be handy. Great little bike, done 144 mile round nonstop was ok but buffeting bad since put add on screen lot better
Just bought the black gloss Astro GX for $150 (new/open box) and it’s definitely comfortable and snug. I used my Strada 2 for a few years, tried AGV’s K6 and love them but Arai makes a convincingly comfortable lid 👌
I have the same bike removed the back end installed a tail tidy the put full stainless steel twin black widow end cans on removed baffles and it sounds amazing
