Great show! Perhaps, the sharks accept her as their protector as they don’t have any upon being born! She earned their trust and only feel calm with her. That’s my guy talking…as the “how to soothe a shark” book hasn’t been written….as they’ve got to protect t themselves since they’re born!

I just saw a video making that claim earlier tonight. Boggles my mind that people still arrive at that conclusion. I think they're just fishermen scared that it will result in more restrictions to their sport, or that protected sharks will result in increased depredation.

1:30 They did not “see the whole thing”. They saw only what was visible on the surface. It told them that an orca had killed a great white. And in the oceans, if you see something like that, it’s probably something that happens with some regularity.
@mas3ymd
@mas3ymd 18 дней назад
Your questions are all dumb. I know you think you’re being smart, but you are not. It doesn’t matter how many white sharks we’ve seen orcas kill. What matters is that we’ve seen it before. And we’ve certainly seen it.more than once. And since we see very little of the lives of orcas, great whites, and anything else living in the oceans and seas, the probability is extremely high that if we’ve seen something once then it’s a fairly regular occurrence. With the advent of camcorders and drones, we’re seeing it more and more. And let’s face it: why should this surprise anyone? Orcas are larger, faster, more powerful, and vastly more intelligent creatures than white sharks. On an individual basis, an orca is perfectly capable of killing a great white. Working in pairs or in groups, it’s a foregone conclusion that they do. You can almost think of orcas as being the humans of the sea. Whatever they develop a taste for, they will consume it. There are very few animals that can reliably protect themselves from orcas. They can hunt successfully anywhere. And as a result, orcas are among the most widespread animals on the planet. They can be found nearly everywhere. Like humans, they have groups and associated cultures that stick to various areas, but like humans, as a species, they can thrive almost anywhere. Yeah, I get it. Some people love sharks so much that they hate the idea that the greatest shark of all is killed and eaten by dolphins, but that’s just how nature works and we accept it.

The shark was beaten to death, because humans are arrogant and ignorant and have huge ego for control, the shark did nothing wrong at all, it was starving and pregnant...That person was killed because he was in water ocean, the shark's habitat..And that was his fate, but beating the shark to death for what it does naturally to survive for millions of years, is just barbaric and ignorant...

I like Jeselnik, but this is a cunty thing to do, he could have just said someone was killed by a shark..not saying where it was. Imagine if a comedian did the same kind of bit about a school shooting? How would that sit? He could get girls coming out dressed as bullets and have some kids come out with bullet wounds Oh that'd be great right? Especially if he named the kids.

Funny thing about 'real' whale carcasses--there a documentary (was it the very first 'Air Jaws'?) where a biologist named Mark Marks (sp?) who was filming white sharks feeding on the carcass of a Brydes Whale (sp?); he was sitting on the carcass as a score of great whites gorged themselves on blubber. Marks opined that once the sharks were 'satiated', hormonal changes occurred and their instincts turned from feeding to mating. Marks even opined that whale feedings would become a site for mating orgies.

I think it's a bit unfair to study history from the advantage and privilege of hindsight. I watched Blue Water and Savage Shadows fairly vlose to the time and the people involved were far , FAR more sympathetic and on the side if the sharks than 99.99% of the public. I've often recommended them to people because they did more for sharks than pretty much anyone or anything else of the time. The average thought of the day was that sharks were a menace and should be culled. But yes, watching them harpoon the whale and then inflate it with nitrogen was extrenely disturbing even back then.

It’s always unfair to study history from this advantage. These films were still great and I don’t have the goal of diminishing them. I just want people to think and this is an opportunity to reflect.

As someone who doesn't usually watch this type of stuff... I had all of these same disgusts when I watched this today. Why are these trained professionals freaking out in the bubble? What is the point of the bubble? All of the technology we have, and we have absolutely zero footage from the bubble, it's all from external sources? Why do these camera cuts/edits seem very disingenuous?
