Matokha was called Pocahontas by her father bc her mother died in childbirth and she reminded him of her and really missed his wife. It was a term of endearment. She was also married to a man in her community and already had one child, and was taken captive by the British. She was SA’d repeatedly during her time as a captive according to the oral history. She was in her mid to late teens likely, too. Eventually, the British forcibly took her across the Atlantic to England where she met the king, and died on the voyage back. We still don’t know how she died or where her body is.
She was also… delusional 😂. Like most early paleontologists she had the most “wtf” inducing bs spiritualist dr Frankenstein theories and SO much of her work was so incorrect that it’s still producing false understandings of prehistoric life to this day in pop-culture
Not an artist but heard from a lot of peeps that knowing the anatomy of the human body when trying to draw humans tends to make better drawings. But damn having to make this or draw 100's of drawings. I honestly don't know which I prefer. Either way my fingers would hurt like hell
Cry me a river to all the "tracing is cheating" cry babies. Trace! I could literally trace a photo and my blend comes out horrible and picture still looks sloppy! Just because you trace does not mean the work will come out great! If you are a great artist your work will show with your details and WHAT YOU DO WITH THE PICTURE! Copying someone else's finished work is different! Tracing an actual photo of someone and putting your own art to it is nothing horrible! focus on what you do, not others. Why type in tracing videos just to come to the video and talk trash?? if its not for you, then don't trace and go be so perfect like you guys claim to be! lol, be doing too much. Let people create and be great.
