Best part about 1:40 in the special edition is the developer commentary for that scene. Tim Schafer is just trying to think of this possible, plot deep reason as to why Guybrush's pants fall down and Ron Gilbert just responds with "Because of gravity"
These games were pure gold!! And the fact that they were LucasArts and able to drop Star Wars and Indiana Jones Easter eggs just added to their self-awareness. Meta before meta was even a thing. So glad there's FINALLY a new one coming out!
I'm so glad I remembered this episode. Chemistry plays a big role in this episode. But now I understand how ammonium nitrate is played in an explosion in Lebanon.
It's not really the same mechanism - ammonium nitrate is an explosive because given a little activation energy, it decays to form Nitrogen gas, water vapor, a little oxygen, and a lot of heat. IRL the breakdown of Ammonium Nitrate to Nitric Acid and Ammonia isn't chemically favorable (it goes the other way, you mix ammonia and nitric acid to form ammonium nitrate) but Ed can do it with his alchemy.
