It's not just that it's the fact that when any steam locomotive hits the mainline they always need a diesel locomotive. Same thing with CP 2816, it has full PTC but still has a diesel behind it. It's a mandatory requirement for any Class 1 railroad when a steam engine runs on the mainline. The diesel serves as the backup engine and helps reduce water and brake shoe usage and supplies dynamic braking.

I saw them as a kid loved it!!!! I would have thought they would have better power now and nicer coach cars.... A bunch of SW units" I would have thought SD40 or Dash 8's
I've been on that train but never knew what the surroundings looked like "from the outside" when looking out the window from the inside! Maybe it's a good thing I didn't know! It's a beautiful scene, but the reality of the position of the tracks at that point is a little jarring!
