Jack of all trades, Master of None!! A collection of How-To videos covering a wide range of topics to show what can be achieved with confidence and a bit of common sense.
Should have removed the cap off master cylinder before pushing the brake cylinder back first 🤨 you put new pads on a damaged disc.. doesn't make sense..discs are not expensive for these cars
Thanks for the video, we've got 3 of our gas rings with problems, plus 2 not igniting. The boss was thinking we'd need a new cooker, now I feel confident I can at least sort the thermocouples, just the igniters to sober 👍👍big thumbs up
It's the exact hob that faulty, rangemaster wants 38 quid for a 900 mm. service engineers must love coming out for these jobs. where did you get your from?
Hi, thinking of buying one of these routers to replace an old bt home hub 5 with open wrt as its acting up! How is the wifi on the router? Is it a solid connection without having to do frequent reboots? Thanks.
How to fix this mr jack. it's spamming in my kernel log qca8k-ipq4019 c000000.switch wan: Link is Down [15130.250406] qca8k-ipq4019 c000000.switch wan: Link is Up - 100Mbps/Full - flow control rx/tx Is this ok to opkg?i searched this on google opkg remove ath10k-firmware-qca4019-ct opkg remove kmod-ath10k-ct opkg install ath10k-firmware-qca4019 opkg install kmod-ath10k-smallbuffers Edit: tried this opkg. Qualcomm Atheros QCA9886 802.11ac/n stops working. But the kernel log still has the issue
Good pm mr jack. I have followed your installation on ea8300. I have a question. Can i remove the -ct on customize package?im seeing some ath10k_ahb a000000.wifi: mac flush on kernel logs. I have seen it in a forum that it fixes with non ct drivers.
Thanks for the video. After watching I just ordered the Linksys EA8300 off of Ebay. Was using a ASUS DSL-N66U for the USB tethering option but that thing is slowly dying. Good to know that the latest version of OpenWrt will install on this.
@@mr-jack I am liking the Linksys EA8300 but you must setup irqbalance and turn on Software flow offloadin & Packet steering. Otherwise it will only use one core.
@@shaguftabegum7933 I just did a test and switched mine off. Then tried to light it with a lighter. The ring lit and stayed alight after I released the knob. I have to admit I didn't expect it to stay on. So your problem could be the thermocouple.
The SWITCH option is removed from the menu as part of the DSA upgrade to OpenWrt. You need to Follow this video(ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-47e8bDtTGFo.html) to make a software switch
Good instruction video and very informative. At the moment I have no problems. I have a Sportstech treadmill now for a day and was very surprised to see that when putting the deck up it was a MDF plate. In my naivity I just assumed this would be metall. With my research I was just curious about the durability of a melamine coating. Any idea about that?
I am afraid I have no stats but would have thought melamine would have good wear characteristics. It is smooth and hard. If you check out other videos, some people have used thin sheets of aluminium.
Greetings, I installed the firmware on a very similar model, with the intention of taking advantage of the USB ports, but I haven't achieved anything, not even a hard drive that I had lying around the house works, is this fixable? The model in question is the MR 8300
Hi. I was able to get a USB stick working. I didn't try a hard disk. Have you tried using a powered USB-SATA Hub as the router has very little power to give to USB devices. On a slightly different note did you install the MR8300 firmware on your device? The reason I ask is that on my first attempt I actually installed the MR8300 firmware on my EA8300 and it seemed to work ok but the USB and LED lights didn't work. So if you have installed the EA8300 software on your MR8300 that might be why.
@@jbgrenouille2527 So it looks like it might be a power problem then if the interface is active. Have you tried a powered USB-SATA hub? I have used these in the past, they work well and are quite cheap, www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07JGT17B8/ref=emc_b_5_t
Had a roofer fit some of these a few years ago on my self build and i have just had my first leak, not enough for a drip but discoloured the plaster at top after a cloud burst. Checked it out by standing on a scaffold tower on the inside. There was a lot of leaf debri in the top and side channels that may caused the top to overflow. Looks like cleaning the leaf debri out will be a anuual event. Great video, only one online with any detail about keylite windows.
Thanks for the feedback. Can you put a leaf catcher higher up the roof to try to keep them out of channels. Having said that, regular inspection is probably a good thing as it helps catch things before they become a serious problem.
Hello! I thought I was following along, but now when I get to the advanced reboot page there is no linksys option anymore... Is there a way to get it back? The OpenWrt 22.03.2 (Linux 5.10.146) firmware on partition 2 works just fine, but the other wont boot. Any help would be appreciated!
Hi James, go to the OpenWRT page for the EA8300 (openwrt.org/toh/linksys/ea8300) There is a link to download the original firmware from Linksys which you can then re-flash. Be warned you are on your own with this as I have not tried it.
I could virtualise some of the pi's onto a proxmox server, that nay come in a later video 😉. I would want to keep the pfsense firewall as a deducted physical device for security purposes and the backup server is located in a physically segregated building to protect against fire.
I’ve tried to find info online for this system but nothing explains it. Is this similar to AdBlue; being an additive to reduce diesel pollution and is it fitted to all C8s?
I found this "The particulate filter regeneration fluid ensures that soot particles burn at a lower temperature, namely from 450°C. Even if the driving conditions are not optimal, this allows an effective regeneration of the particulate filter". I think it does the same thing as adblue but clearly in a different way as it lasts much longer.
I am afraid I don't know, I didn't see any nationalisation information. However, I would think that you would be ok to try as you can always revert to the original image, on the alternate partition.
@@mr-jackanother question.how did you change the default gateway?i just saw on a old post that if you change the gateway from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.3.1you can't access the device anymore.is this true?
Hi, if you want to use the new DSA configuration feature then you have to upgrade the kernel. If you are happy with the old way of configuring it then 5.10 is fine. Up to you, I decided I wanted to try the new way.
You can absolutely still access it if you change the gateway address. I change the network address and even the port in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-47e8bDtTGFo.html. the key thing is to get your computer to recognise that the router address has changed. Sometimes you can do it by simply unplugging and re-plugging the ethernet cable or on windows issue "ipconfig /renew" at the command prompt to get your computer to request a new IP address from the router
This is a nice little build. Great Job. Have you considered using SSD drives? I picked up a 2TB SSD on Amazon for $56.They don't come that often, but you can find them every once and a while. The reason why I'm saying that is because it will reduce your power consumption a great deal. So much so that you won't need additional power. I used dual 2TB SSD SATA drives on an Argon SATA to USB adapter and it doesn't require any additional power other than what's being pulled from the Pi itself.
Thanks :). I did consider SSD's and would love to use them but they just aren't big enough at the kind of price I can afford. Currently on amazon it is just north of £400 for two 4TB SSD's, whereas two HDD's costs only £160. That is a lot of run-time if I convert that into Electricity.
@@mr-jack I see what you mean. I got a great deal on some 4 4TB enterprise HDD for under $40 each. They've been running for 3 years now. I couldn't do that with SSD's
@@IAmThe_RA I don't think so my CPC was only 16mm. 25mm cpc will not fit in the special tails grommet. There are 3 holes: 2 large ones which just fit the 25mmr live and neutral and a smaller one which just fits the 16mm CPC.
@@mr-jack i'm not from the Uk, we have a TT system here so my main 25mm² cpc will go to the DB from the back. I really like Hager DBs produced in England and plan to purchase one online. So my only concern is that if the 25mm² cpc can't fit in the Hager Earth bar.
It would be great to find a 4 x 8 sheet of phenolic coated plywood here in the states for the price you got yours for, but I have not been able to locate a similar size and price. Good job on replacing your deck.
Mike, I got them from Bushbury Cladding (www.bushburycladding.co.uk/). They were very friendly and quick to answer the phone but the delivery was late. I had to keep calling them and the panels were finally delivered about 2 weeks late. Lots of places sell the panels but there is a huge variation in pricing and delivery. Bushbury had the best net price for me in Hertfordshire. There is a company in Devon called CladCo (www.cladco.co.uk/) who had the lowest price per sheet but huge delivery charges. If you are close to Devon they might suit you. Good luck!
