Hi Mark, could you share how you made your own cable. I.e. does A go to the inner pin or outer contact of the connector at the other end. And I assume B goes to the other contact. And the shield of the cable, is that only connected at the distributor side? Thanks!

In europe , back in the 60s , went to a school for diesel pumps rebuilt / calibration . You should use injectors at the end of lines to do an accurate flow quantity .

What type of wires are those that the floater moves up/down on? The ones on the sides. Are they resistance wires? How many Ohms and what gauge are they? Anybody knows?

I remember it from early 80's. The one I saw had a carborator on it. Is yours fuel injected?

@@markhabel2252 no its with carburator, I've been reading and it looks like a very complicated conversion, I like the idea but maybe it's better just to swap with the c24ne engine that already comes with injection, Im just not sure how to put to wirering loom since mine had no wires...

@@diogolourenco60 It's rather complicated process as your block doesn't have the provision for the pump installation and drive. On top of it good pump alone is probably close to the cost of the engine. If it was me I would refurbish the carborator. All the way to the factory spec. Also a set of proper low resistance copper wires and none resistor plugs will increase spark and combustion quality

For an engine with a temperature of 25 degrees, the cold pressure according to the schedule should be 1.8-2.2 bar, and not 0.5 like yours.

Hello, i have some issues to insert the green résistance on the plate, is it possible or do i néed to sand the interior to make more place for thé plate to enter thé résistance ?

It should go on tight. Do not send or try to enlarge it in any way! You will brake the internal windings and the part will be useless. Clean the plate really well than put it in the freezer. After few hours (with the thin rubber gloves on) all should slide together easily. I only had to implement this technique once.

Nice one Marek!! Check the topcoat window time. 48 hrs should be fine. Some even 72 hours. If you go longer than that you should scuff sand before top coating. Cheers John 🍻

Luckily my WUR problem turned out to be the vacuum line on top of the WUR the line led to a three way TEE on the Manifold that was Kaputsa.

Try Salvox. Go to the site and see if your specific unit is listed, if not email them. There is plenty on Ebay as well.

Can I ask you something please I changed fuel filter cleaned Gas Tank and now the Car didn’t want to start it was running before Now I looked at the Fuel injectors two were very bad so you think if I change them it will start again or could it be something else ?

Actually, the fps should be at 32 psi. And no, that gauge should not be moving like that. I think you got a bad pressure regulator or a bad f pump.

Most likely the pressure accumulator is gone. It is the same looking thing next to the pressure regulator. @@georgecurtis6463

I appreciate the effort, but if you’re gonna do this, why not be thorough? You didn’t tell the viewer what port you’re using for example, you put a lot of stuff in this video that is not important you should consider redoing the video and making sure you cover every single step from hooking up the gauges to wrapping it up.

@@markhabel2252 the video is actually quite good, maybe one of the best I’ve seen on the subject matter. Your dedication and love of these old cars definitely comes through and you’re helping people keep them on the roads so my comment was not to discourage but to encourage you and others to be as thorough as possible. I own a shop that restores and maintains these cars and we deal with them every single day and I know how frustrating it can be for people when crazy issues like these regulators come up. Most of the time when people are watching these videos, they’re extremely frustrated, they are typically under the engine of the car with a video playing and they need answers, so just keep that in mind that you’re doing a great service here so I would definitely consider at least editing down the video and maybe putting some text upfront to show people where they need to hook that pressure gauge up.

What could be the reason that the pressure starts at 2 bar instead of 0.5 Bar (cold engine approx. 25 degrees) and ends at 3.7 bar, which is correct already when the engine is warmed up to approx. 90 degrees

by removing the spacers from the top piece, is that enough adjustment? my car is running very good at iddle and fires right up, but cannot stop the black smoke when i press the gas. any advice?

Hi Mark. Great video, thanks for sharing. Been trying to do the same test in an M110 engine. Just wanted to confirm if the line you use for measuring Control Pressure is the one that goes to fuel distributor or the return to the manifold/tank. Because in my car connectors on WUR seem to be switched compared to yours, don't know why... Thanks!

Just stop and think about it ..... changing the fuel preasure will vary the flow through the fuel distributor. Remember, there were several versions of the WUR and the connection points on it will be different as well

Hello Mark do you have a procedure on how to set the engine timing for the car to start after replacing the timing chain on 1981 380 sl. It just crank and act like it is going to start but nothing happens I am almost positive that the timing is off. Thank you

Get the most complete set available. Even though some of the gaskets may survive disassembly, they will not seal properly and than you are back to square one.

Ok guys before you purchase a new fuel sending unit try and clean the electrical connection on top of the unit first. Don't make the same mistake I did, and purchase a new VDO sending unit which didn't solve the gauge Fluctuating issue. I took the old one apart, and cleaned it up well put it back together and used a 220 grit sand paper to clean the electrical connection on the sending unit. It works perfectly fine now.BTW it's a 1995 E320
