To make black food coloring: Start by combining blue, red, and green dyes in equal amounts. Add additional drops of red and green. You will likely need to add additional drops of red and green (a bit more red than green) to reach a truly inky black
I did that with a bright green hoodie. The hoodie turned out black with a slight dark green tint that you only notice if you put it beside something pitch black. I was happy with it.

I ordered a black denim skirt online, what I received was some faded gray cheap skirt that looked nothing like the picture. So here I am watching how to dye stuff black 👍

I absolutly love the jacket, whe you started adding the spikes i was like "Okay that might look a bit odd" and then when you showed the finished result i was like holy shit thats amazing!!
I've been dying clothes black since the 90s, when u had to make (or at least alter) your own "alternative" clothing (and were harshly judged if u bought them off the rack...how things have changed!). I redyed faded clothing as well as dyed coloured/white garments black. A couple things that happen, the latter of which is pretty cool, is that stitching & seams often don't absorb dye (as you showed), so I'd use a dye pen or Sharpie, as u demonstrated. The other thing, is some items turn a terracotta-peach colour rather than black - either all over or on certain areas which are of a different fabric. For instance I had a pale pink lace summer scarf w/ tiny pom-pom trim. The lace turned the dusky dark peachy-bronze shade while the pom-poms took the black dye. It actually looks really cool and I like it even more than if it'd come out all black. So my advice is to test out what works on certain fabrics before you dye stuff you love that's made of the same, just in case it doesn't work out as planned. That is unless you're definitely not going to wear it as is, in that case go to town and hope for the best! For jeans and denim jackets tho, I really do suggest simply buying them already black b/c it's a lot of effort for some of us and takes a LOT of dye.
Yeah I just wanted to see if it would work out as an experiment at that time because I was bored at home and it turned out pretty well so no complaints here :) not saying dyeing is a better option but if someone finds that denim jacket that fits so well they just wish it was darker, maybe this video would be helpful. I need to do another updated video utilizing the advice people have given on this video (this video is YEARS old) but I don’t have as much free time as I’d like to be able to do it.
I’d do one at a time since honestly you need a huge container if you do dye more than one pair and the single bottle itself only works on one or two(small) articles of clothing. You can try doing a couple at once but make sure you use more bottles and the pants material you are using will work with that dye. The back of the bottle tells you all the materials it works with.
