Loved this place - I was very drunk when I shot this video on an iPhone! Went back a few weeks later and filmed the NYE night. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qFEuNUHxovg.html
Great video(although I found the rolling postcards a bit intrusive). The choice of musical score is excellent. It seems to say that this tiny island has seen a lot of history. I hope to return one day, to listen to the cricket happily chirping away in the carob and fig trees, in the searing Summer heat when the shadows can be cut with a mus(that's a pen-knife) and with me sitting in the shadows where I belong, guzzling on my bottle of Kinnie and a far-away look about my dazzled eyes, half-closed to delude myself that all is well. Heaven! -ish!
Thank you Joe. Yes, there are probably too many 'rolling' images but the truth is that I was just filming clips to try out my first camcorder and never expected to edit it. Lot's of fragmented clips and some photographs to work with, no script or story so the video is a patchwork of whatever I came home with! Like you, I'd love to return and do it all again - I even miss the local beer which was surprisingly good. Thanks for taking the trouble to comment - much appreciated.
Dave Byford Hi Dave. I am grateful that, not only did you like your experience, but you also went to the trouble of putting it on record. Yes, I grew up in the shadows of the brewery that gave the world Cisk Lager. What could be nearer to heaven than an ice-cold Cisk on a hot Summer's evening. Can you taste it Dave? Thanks again. Malta is tiny and not perfect(why would it be?). But anyone with a taste of the simple good things in life - they will find plenty of those in Malta. What else have we got?

Very good Video, Well done. Just to let you know I worked on the big grey building (not seen on this video) in the early 90s when it used to be (among other things) the main relay station for the B.B.C world service. and before starting work on there as a contract roofer (replacing the roof on that building) I had to sign the O.S.A (Official Secrets Act) Which is still in force today even though I haven't worked there since about 1993. So please don't ask what I seen in the building, Because if I told you, I would have to shoot you!!!! Also when worked on the Ness all these area's featured in your film were all "Out of bounds" and still Top Secret, so nice to see what I wasn't allowed to see, Even after signing the O.S.A there were still places so secret we couldn't even go!!!
Thank very much for the comments and information which I find fascinating. I knew nothing about the place when I visited and never intended to make film but rather walk around taking stills with the other photographers. There was obviously something quite haunting about landscape, history and buildings but I simply walked around taking test 'film' with a camcorder I'd just bought to test it out. Back home I got more and more intrigued as I looked through the clips and set about trying to make a film. I've used every clip I had - including falling down the steps and speeding the clips up where, at the time, all I was doing was practising panning the camera to see how smooth the results were! Artistic licence was used to finish the film and my reasons for the explosive ending were simply to highlight the dangers of working with the many explosives on site. Plus, of course, I needed a way of finishing the film when the clips ran out!
Love Walkway, was a great set at Stowfiesta, what a fabulous afternoon it was, like the way you can see the flag bearer doing his circuits round the stage while they were on !
Thanks Chris, I have some really fond memories of Passion. After filming this i got a very surprising email from passion and an invite to film there on New years Eve. Happy Days! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qFEuNUHxovg.html
Hey, Can I use some parts of the Movie for an commercial ? It is for an Study Abroad on Malta for the company Panke-Sprachreisen. Greetings from Germany Yannik
I went to Malta in June of 2013! I had a blast! It has so much history and culture. Coming from Canada, We brought all sorts of hats and winter clothes. It turned out to be HOT! Since my moms part of the family was from there, we took a trip for 2 weeks. best 2 weeks of my life! Also, they had so many attractions like, Popeyes Village (Where the orginal Movie Pop Eye was filmed.) Blue Lagoon, (Which was AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL) The Blue Grotto (Where we saw outstanding caves) And most of all, the beauty of all the wonderful cities. Also, I ate something delicious, I forgot wat it was called but it was dough with raisins inside of it. Anyway, I had a great time and I say, if you ever want to take a luxorious vacation, Go to Malta :)
