Good idea! I definitely have thoughts on the customer service experience. Due to family circumstances I probably won’t have time to make a new video for a little while but I’ll try.
Maybe check belts motor could be trying to over compincate for lose belt or under load as in the computer not understanding because something is kicked or something. I'd but just my opinion. Mine should be here for this weekend
Overall it turns nicely. It's heavy and rigid. Power is OK. Rough turning a bowl out near 10” or 12” i can bog it down some. this lathe is currently back in a box and I’m attempting a warranty exchange if i can find a store with stock. Motor loses power and rpm readout jumps all over. Apparently a rare issue. Video here: m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0HbmQt0gY_c.html
I uploaded a video showing the power loss and rpm readout issue I've had with this lathe from day 1: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0HbmQt0gY_c.html
Just got my Bauer EVS lathe. I will say it is 1000% better than the 10x18 Central Machinery lathe it is replacing. On a side note, the WEN 34035EX bed extension and the Woodcraft Woodriver Spindle Steady Rest are both 100% compatible with the Bauer EVS lathe. The bed extension adds an additional 24 inches of usable bed length. After the add-ons, the lathe now weighs in around the 160lbs mark. If you decide to add the bed extension, the included socket head cap screws for mounting the tool holder are not long enough the mount the bed extension.
Congrats on the new lathe! It is a great lathe, though I've found a quirk with mine where it loses power to the motor and the RPM readout jumps all over. I haven't gotten to the bottom of it yet.
Im super close to making this very purchase but being that Bauer is so new to making lathes it scares me. But it's a very worthwhile buy if they turn out to be a good lathe
Overall this is the same lathe sold by craft supply and grizzly. It is likely the same manufacturer for all three. The only difference is the motor (and probably electronics). I found a quirk where power cuts out and the rpm display jumps around. I don’t know what’s causing it. I did manage to get it on video but haven’t had a chance to upload it.
