vfsvideos is the official RU-vid channel of VFS Motor Racing Videos.
VFS Motor Racing Videos have been filming national club motorsport throughout the UK and Europe since 1988.
During this time we have carried out sponsor seeking videos for single drivers and small teams making their way up the motorsport ladder to Formula 1 and World Sports Cars etc. We have also filmed a day in the life of a racing club carrying out the challenging tasks of putting on a race meeting for its members. Over the years we have carried out work for the TR Racing Register, Porsche 924 race series, Historic Replicar Championship, Formula Junior, Pre War Austin 7s', MG Metros', MG Cockshoot Cup and Walter Hayes Trophy to list just a few. We have also carried out filming at the predicious Historic Grand Prix at Monaco for the Formula Junior Historic Racing Association and HARC Historic Zandvoort Trophy at Zandvoort for the MG FISC Euro Tour Race Series.
I bought a restored two tone Burgundy top /Grey bottom 1961 Zodiac Mk2 in 1972 and just about every time I stopped people asked my how much I would sell it for. One day I was in the city and as I returned to the car a city looking guy approached my and asked me to name my price, I hummed and hawed , and he said 2Grand....... DEAL.
Where I live and farm in Australia this rally came through, we were on a competitive stage. Midnight first car came iver the back of Mt. Buffalo and down into our valley. I was only fourteen then, so exciting. In 1993 a re enactment ralley came through in daylight, quite exciting but not as much as the first. Andrew Cowan drove the original car but I think it broke down before it got to Sydney. In 2018 a few rally buffs went for a drive, unfortunately I was out that day. Great memory.
Met Brian today at Coventry Motofest, lovely man very knowledgeable. Showed me around his RS200 and let me sit in the very car in the video! I think it’s brilliant these cars will be handed down what a wonderful story on them!
Morning Sam, what a shame we didn't cross paths at the nec. Just seen your video. My son Joshua has a 1929 peerless American ash frame car. It looks like we, I'm his dad will be a life long restoration project too. May contact you for a chat about this. Regards David and Josh.
Wow I had the exact car. Same spoiler same Airflow body kit but with the Ronal Minilite style wheels. Momo Steering Wheel, Engine Balanced, Polished ports, Will Gollop installed Water injection. Great car and quick for its day.
Love the video, I had mine red trojan 200 in 1964 and drove mine a motorbike license Village policeman told me I had to block reverse gear when I spoke to police at the main station they told to carry on and drive with reverse gear had happy days with it.
I've recently bought a Trojan 200. I had a Heinkel Ireland in the early 90's. As Gary said, The club is brilliant & very helpful. Don't know what I would do without without the spares backup the club provides (All by volunteers)
I was in this club for a while after seeing a gaggle of Mantas while down in Cornwall in the nineties. They gave me a card and i joined the club. I paid £7,600 new for the car in November 1985 plus £50 extra for a nearside door mirror. I had it for 19 years and 113,000 miles before it was vandalised beyond repair in 2004 in the East End of London. I absolutely loved the car and would never have sold it. The car deserved a bit more power and if i had it still today would probably have stuck in a bigger engine around 150 bhp would have been perfect. Great handling, i had it at quite a few angles but it always came back. I think these are finally getting the recognition they deserve. Better car by far than the Capri. And yes i had a sunroof and yes it rusted there.
Saw it yesterday at cars in the park at Lichfield. Didn't Marku Allen test in it as well. I remember reading reports about it in the old rally sport magazine. I remember a guy called Simon knutt rallied one. I went to his restaurant one in kendal in the lake district. There was pics of it everywhere. He had some success with it when it wasn't eating gear boxes. I think Malcom Wilson used it in south Africa as well. Good you have and take car of it.
I'm blown away by this video. I live in NZ, but visited the UK in 1988, and was taken to Mallory Park to watch the Alfa races by another Alfa Club member (whose name I've sadly forgotten, he was an architect I think). I remember many of these cars and had a great day there. Thank you so much for posting this.
Now that's what I want to see with classics, actually being cared for rather than being left to rot or be destroyed. It's a good thing that Jowett Javelin was restored because that classic is definitely not an easy classic to get your hands on
Hi Tom, I think you will mean Denis Welsh & Dave Hardy. Two real characters of club motor sport, lost to us all. We also lost a true legend this week as well, John Surtees. Thanks for the comment. Regards vfsvideos
yes Dave hardy is my uncles dad and denis welch is a friend of theirs. Denis particular helped daves family in the aftermath of his accident and several years later his death. then he also died. I have also seen Denis's sons. Tim and jermery
thanks for your reply. also, a bit of a longshot but if you have any footage of the single seater vixen vb4 in any competition that would be great as well
Would be very interesting to see, the two above named drivers both raced these cars in the late 1960s -early 1970s. Have heard many stories and seen a few photos but would be interesting to even see footage of one being driven
Hi Anthony, No I haven't. I will be present at Race Retro 2017 next weekend, when I am hoping to interview Tom Kristensen (Le Mans fame) and Rally drivers Ari Vatanen and Markku Alen amonst others. Should be interesting! Just watch this space.
These guys are so brave when you think they have no seat belts!! Wonderful to see these classic racing cars still racing. www.vfsvideos.co.uk/vintage-sports-car-club-pre-war-racing-cars/
Nice to see a lot of these cars are still competing in historic events today. A few of the drivers are no longer with us unfortunately. Thank you all for watching these weekly programmes. Regards Graham vfsvideos
good car. Note that it's fantastic grip area (Griffbereich), Not even one car (autovan) is not falling and crashing. The Beetle autovan come to a speed of 120 kilometers per second and more (on the clock).
The last time we filmed the Big Boys Toys Beetle Cup series was in 1998. The series does't run anymore (in the UK). There is a new series run by the BRSCC called the Fun Cup an endurance championship which was launched in the UK in 2002. The cars are race designed, single-seaters, with super-strong space frame chassis. They are powered by an 1800cc, 130 bhp VW/Audi petrol engine, with the popular Sadev sequential gearbox. They all feature race brakes and fully adjustable suspension. All cars are identical in specification, with no-performance modifications. The championship consists of one class and a trophy is awarded to the top 3 teams after each race. The races are all endurance, between 3 and 6 hours in the UK, complete with pit stops and all the drama of such an event. Teams vary from 2 - 6 drivers in the UK and thanks to carefully formulated rules, however many in a team, your chance of success is exactly the same. To see more go to the website, which has dates for the championship 2016. www.brscc.co.uk/Championships/FUN-CUP-CHAMPIONSHIP
