Hi there, my name is Pam. Welcome to my booktube channel. I mostly read horror books, and every now and then I read a mystery book. I enjoy a good mystery, but my heart belongs to horror.
I'm looking for reading friends. As my channel grows (thinking positive here) I would like to do reading sprints and group or buddy reads. Mostly I just want to talk about books with other readers.
Hello and welcome to book tube Pam. I’m still pretty new to all this malarkey and finding my way around. Look forward to hearing what you have to say. Best wishes with what you choose to read. I hope you get some great stories.
I also had many, many questions about the ending. I get the impression you're right, that it was done on purpose with the intent of releasing more books. We can only hope!
Such a lovely review! Very calming and peaceful to watch. I absolutely adored this book, and I think you had very measured and thoughtful opinions on it. I loved your little personal anecdotes sprinkled in
Welcome to BookTube! I hope you enjoy the community here. One of my favorite genres is psychological thrillers. I have barely dipped my toe into horror but still deciding how much I really want to read of horror. Haha I used to judge the romance genre as well. I thought it was pure fluff, not very literary or well written, etc. And then a few years ago I read my first contemporary romance and was shocked! I really liked it. And now romance (certain types, anyway) is another favorite genre. My favorites are the ones that really get into the psychology of people's brains and why people act the way they act. Character development can make or break any genre for me, though.
Thanks Bonnie! So far I'm enjoying BookTube. I feels good to be able to talk about the books I'm reading. I'm guessing romance novels are different now than back in the 70's. I should take a look out of curiosity.
@@The.Spookologist If you did want to try one (and obviously absolutely no pressure! Reading should be fun and for you!) I would recommend Abby Jimenez (esp Just for the Summer) or Emily Henry (esp Funny Story). I love the characters in both of those.
Welcome to BookTube. I just started to read Secret Prey by John Sandford yesterday and after reading the first 4 or so chapters it looks like a solid mystery. Yes, the fun and unique things question sounds a little like a job interview question to me. I appreciate your honesty. I'm also not a fast reader, but since starting my booktube channel, I think I'm starting to read faster. I read more books in a shorter time, but it still takes me around a week to finish a book (but I read multiple books at a time) No, you did fine. First 10 or 20 videos have hiccups I deleted my first couple of videos because I felt that they weren't me anymore.
Thanks Annie! I agree about the first videos. I've already started thinking when I get more videos up I'll probably go through these first ones and clean house. I think the first videos are almost like training videos. lol
Jones 1963 sounds pretty good. Never heard of it before. As I get older, I do find myself rooting for the killer, especially in teen slasher movies. The kids can be really annoying and unlikable, so I just root for the bad guy.
It's my favorite book. Read it 5 times, and I just visited The Stanley Hotel and stayed in Room 217 where King stayed. Was up at the Stanley for a week. The Shining is my favorite horror movie of all time. Watched it a million times. Well, maybe about 150 times. King did a TV mini-series in 1997 after he got the rights to the book back. He agreed not to bash the movie if he could do a mini-series. It was filmed at the Stanley where he stayed when he got inspired for the book. You might know a lot of this stuff by now. I'm just getting to your videos but I'm such a fan of The Shining I had to watch this one first. Welcome, to BookTube by-the-way. Check out the Stephen King tag it might be something you'll want to do down the road. The mini-series is hard to find on streaming but it might be uploaded on RU-vid.
Hello, Thank you for the welcome. It's so cool that you stayed at The Stanley Hotel, and in room 217! I'll look for that Stephen King tag, thanks for letting me know. Yes, I just learned about the Shining mini series. I'm working on tracking it down. I want to see it.
Hello, thank you for the welcome. I just subscribed to you. BookTube is a small part of RU-vid, and horror readers is even smaller so I'm always happy to find another horror reader.
I admit to being a coward, and I would love to hear your take on how you can read dark/frightening fiction without being afraid. Or maybe you are afraid - in that case I'd love to hear you talk about how that fear doesn't affect your desire to read horror. I don't think I have heard another horror fic reader talk about that in detail, like maybe describe a particularly frightening scene in a favorite book and how you were reacting to it while you were reading. Can you tell I'm really curious about this?
Welcome to the BookTube community! Love the overall vibe. Best of luck with your channel - I look forward to watching more of your videos. Happy Reading!
Welcome to Booktube! I like horror as well, but I also read fantasy too. Horror is my main genre but I like to read other stuff. Don't worry, you did great. Look forward to your next video.
Thank you David, I felt like I should have answered the questions more smoothly, but I left it because I want to just be myself for better or worse. lol
Hi, Pam! I'm looking forward to hearing about all bookish things you want to share with us. From an oldie content creator to a newbie, welcome aboard. We're so glad to have you here!
Charming presenter! (also I love your spencer tshirt lol) almost makes me want to read the book... No, let's be honest, it DOES make me want to read the book, but my practical mind is going, "NO. YOU KNOW WHAT HORROR GENRE DOES TO YOU. YOU WILL NEVER SLEEP AGAIN."
Thank you! I hear ya! I sleep fine after reading horror books, but if I wake up during the night and need to use the bathroom, my imagination goes on overdrive depending on the book. 😂🤣😂
Hi Pam, great video! I would love to see a booktube newbie tag from you, a great intro video all about you! Dr Sleep is so underrated, in my opinion. Love the squirrel 😂 So sorry it's not working for you, let us know about some of your favorite books by Stephen King. Tell me about some of your favorite 5 star horror novels, that would be awesome!
Hi Cliff, the booktube newbie tag sounds like fun; I'll check it out. Thank you for the ideas. I love Stephen King's writing and I can talk all day about it (I won't though lol). I'm going back to Doctor Sleep after I finish the book I'm reading now (Jones 1963, by Devin Cabrera). I needed a break, but I was enjoying it enough that I think I'll be glad I didn't DNF it.
Love the mugs! When I got to the end of the book, it didn't feel like the end of the book. I also have so many questions about it. I am hoping there is another book in the works otherwise it sours what would have been an amazing book.
