I could predict the weather in Britain . Damp cold windy dreary absolute crap grey , for 10 months of the year that’s why we all go to Spain to complain it’s to fackin warm
Jimmy lived down the road from us and our village was carnage after the storm. Maybe because we were the only hill for miles around but it was really bad! We didn't have power for a week and the sound of chainsaws was the sound of my childhood as the clean up went on for month after month
The year climate change became a discussion in my view was here in 1987. Jimmy is sort of is pointing this out and the seriousness of it in a very straightforward way , bright bloke , very sharp ! RIP
WHY ARE SO MANY, WONDERING WHY RAMSAY SELECTED HURST OVER GREAVES. IF HE COULD ANSWER YOU, HE WOULD SAY. WE WON IT, DIDN'T WE. HIS CHOICE WAS THE RIGHT ONE
Weather was changing then, maybe. I remember the storm, I delivered newpapers and was on my way home on my bike. Downhill, then just as I started to go uphill I stood to put force on the pedals to keep my speed up and the chain snapped and I went over the handlebars. No helmet, hit my head. Looked up to see a green Volvo bearing down on me. Thankfully it stopped. A guy came to help and I could see his eyes focussing on my head where a big lump had already formed. Nothing to do with Jimmy Greaves. I liked him on Central News sport and Saint and Greavsie. Been watching videos of him on RU-vid of late to see his goals.
If a storm doesn't originate in the tropics, it isn't a hurricane. Not sure why Jimmy thought he had the ability to re-write the science books just because he was feeling pissed off about it. Sounds to me like it was a bad weather year overall and it pissed him off, so he decided to blame the Met Office. I used to like him but here, he is being a bit of a dickhead.
Yeah but his argument is extremely tenuous, because predicting something as complicated as geographical weather systems is very different to correctly KNOWING a TV schedule. The latter can be perfectly predicted while the former simply can't be, there is always only a statistical probability of one thing over another. His analogy is really stupid and doesn't seem to take this into account at all.
