Great video! I am impressed you brought along your charming little fella, he is too cute!!! I had my first and only child at 40, and now doing the TMB in three weeks, me at 64, my daughter 24. Not sure if you trained or not, but at the moment I am a bit nervous at this hike, though I am rather athletic, but I would have been more than nervous with little fella in tow. So far you have done it with grace. I hope he looks back at the clips of himself and laughs until his sides hurt. Safe travels in the future!
@@kayaker9912 enjoy your walk!! It's indescribably beautiful which made all of the challenging parts so worth it. We are avid backpackers and felt pretty confident with the trip with little extra training, but it definitely kicked out butts some days! Take your time, enjoy a drink at lunch when you can, and keep putting one foot in front of the other. Blessings on a great, safe hike!
A trip that your little outdoorsman will remember for the rest of his life. Maybe even HIS sons or daughters will be able to visit the same place with THEIR dad. Stay safe in all your adventures.
My dad took me to the Badlands and Jewel Cave when I was a child...we are making plans for next summer for my dad, my sons, and me to go again, and I can't wait! I can only dream of doing the same in Isle Royale one day :)
Hello Josh, We are planning to do the same trip with our little daughter. We have seen all your videos and read your blogs multiple times :). They were all extremely helpful! We are very thankful for all the meticulous documentation of your trip in these various ways. We still have one question, how did you manage the baby during dinner time at the refuges? Can we request the refuges to gives us a little plate of food for the baby (at extra cost if needed)? We can inform them as soon as we arrive. Or did you feed the baby the food/snacks you bought before you come to the dining hall for your dinner? Any information you can give is appreciated. Thank you!
@@abcd12341400 I'm so glad it's all been helpful! It's been a while, but from what I remember, we planned to let our son eat off our plates, but when we got there, many refuges were super kind and brought out a small plate for him anyway. I'm sure if you ask to buy a plate, they would happily accommodate if they can. There is usually a lot of food on your plate, so if you can't get a plate for your child, you'll have plenty to share. Overall, the refuges were super kind and helpful with our kiddo :)
My outback did just fine...no issues at all and no deep sand. I've heard the other trailhead is far more rough and sandy, so that was part of our decision to do hurricanes wash trailhead.
Wow what a journey! Thanks so much for documenting it all. We hiked the haute route a few years before we had kids, and are now dreaming of taking them back to Mont Blanc in the future. We just took our two girls (4yo and almost 2yo) to NZ and they did their first overnight hike (only 4.5km of flat walking) and that was certainly a good challenge for them haha! Cant wait to do more now. So inspired by you and can very much appreciate how impressive your feat is to have done this with a bub AND a cot!!! (We ditched our cot for our hike but it was the worst and most comical night sleep ever so much regreat haha). Cant wait to see what you do in the future. Great work guys.
