Great to see the innovation. Not great seeing REI "acquiring" ideas for product design. I don't buy much from REI anymore and I'm happy to see any competition they have. Your Helebox is more of a KISS (keep it simple...) design which is better IMHO.

That's a really cool design. I've got a Tacoma with a pop up camper but sometimes I feel safer stealth camping in the bed with the camper down. I've been brainstorming how I might design a minimalist platform that's lightweight, easy to take in and out, and has extendable legs so I can use it as a table either outside or inside the bed with the camper up. This is nicer than anything I could have come up with. Is it possible to add more long legs to an order?

What is bias?

When you remove the middle leg to mount on the wheel well, is the framing/platform level? When you put both platforms in it looks uneven, but the final shot with the pads looks level.

Would the second configuration option (over the wheel well) also work behind the driver's side instead of the passenger's side?

I tried a platform setup in my 4th gen 4Runner. After one trip, I ripped them out. I rather have the headroom.

You can make hole on one of the planks (2nd or 3rd ) to support a snug fit instead of just hanging.

Any plans to make shorter front leg pairs, like 3-6" height? I have a Bronco Sport and "technically" the back seats lay pretty flat while folded forward, at least at the hinge, but the top, back sits about 4" higher than the floor of the back deck. I don't want to lose headspace (I can sit fully upright "in bed") but need a solid flat surface that straightens out that 3-4" difference. Great product, BTW!

This fits in my Honda Pilot Elite with captain chairs in back. I have the configuration in the video with the long legs on the floor. This leaves room near the back cargo hatch door for additional storage like water containers etc. Or, I can set the Hele Box closer to the rear of the cargo space. In doing so, I use 4 short legs but make 1 longer to set on the center counsel between the 2 passenger seats, then freeing up floor space. Another use besides the kitchen is that I am thinking of setting my solar panels flat on the wood slats, or pull the railing bed out and using the rails to hang my solar panels so I can move them to follow the sun. Good thinking and great implementation. Can add some leg support to make it wide and flat (some sort of pad). Just a metal tube might cause stress on the seat backs and might end up making a depression or a cut.

Good idea and better implementation of the REI Trailgate sleeping platform. Looking to buy something for my 2023 5th Gen 4Runner ORP. Can you think of moving it over the wheel well to get more empty space on the left? Love product and really want to buy and support you. But very expensive and unaffordable for me. Liked and subscribed to get updates to this product and price.
