Hey Gents, great stuff and awesome Bon. I was recently informed that you may be seeking a new frontman? I'm the long term former singer of the Scottish AC/DC tribute, Bons Balls.
@@ukdc-acdctribute1142 Not sure I understand. I recieved a notification on FB that you were looking for a replacement singer? I clearly maybe misunderstood or maybe it was a false post. My apologies. Oh, my page is under construction. I'm an independent film maker but was long term singer with an AC/DC tribute, twenty six years. Sorry to trouble you.
Comfort & playability aside, I reckon the Epiphone Pro sounded better. Maybe because of the thicker body. It wasn’t as tinny as the Gibson standard and to my hearing it had a thicker sound and warmer tone
That's the beauty of it and why it is so subjective. It's all about what feels right to your fingers and what sounds right to your ears. Also with so many different Gibson SG Standards that have different neck thicknesses and pickups etc. the only way you can truly compare is to try them all. In terms of value for money.....you are getting a great guitar with the epiphone. No argument from me in that respect.
Seriously. This has been up for a year and I'm really the first to comment ? Well here it comes............... WHY THE HELL ARE THESE GUYS NOT ALL OVER RU-vid ? They're so tight and the lead sings so close to Bon Scott that if you close you're eyes you could imagine you really were at an AC/DC gig back in the 1970's. Well done you guys. Would love to come and see you live.
This is brilliant. I was there down the front on the right. These guys exploded onto the stage and rocked out for 2 hours straight. I'll be coming to see you next time.
Great video man, thanks for sharing your knowledge, it's definitely a daunting procedure if you don't understand the basics, you explained it perfectly, top job, Cheers 😎👍
Felicitaciones 💪💪💪💪 y a rockear.. saludos.🇦🇷.. paso link de otros chicos que están tratando de seguir el legado... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ucFMFBQ-oGQ.html
Hello...your video was very helpful....but I have a question...after doing the setup in the order you mentioned...i want to adjust the saddle that holds the strings behind the bridge...lower or raise it...wont that mess up the tension and change the truss rod adjustment again? Which order does the saddle adjustment come in ?
Hello, the most important thing is getting the truss rod straight. One that's done you would tune your guitar then set your saddle to the desired height, this won't effect the truss rod, once this is set you would then adjust your saddle sliders to set the intonation. this will put the guitar out of tune so you just make small adjustments, then retune, retest, adjust again, and repeat. One string at a time, and small amounts at a time. It can take a little while the first time you do it, the key thing is to keep on top of it every 6 months or so. Truss rod 1st, then saddle height, then saddle sliders.
Thanks a lot for your time ...video was very helpful. Nice guitar man . If possible when you've got the time , if you could send me the pickup height both for neck and bridge as to how you've got them set up. Thank you again.
@@UserUser-qt7mb the pickup height will vary from guitar guitar, the height will mostly effect the amount of sustain and there is no real rule. I have around 3-4mm of clearance between the pickup screws and the string, that way I don't run the risk of them hitting the pickups when depressed or when palm Muting.
@@danetritle7447 I use the solo dalas storm. My live settings I have the amp on crunch chanel, volume around 4/5 and gain around 5/6 (these vary slightly depending on the venue I'm playing) I have the pedal gain set to around half way, boost about 3/4 and the limiter to about 1/4. Again, these are just rough settings qhich I tweak ever so slightly if needed. I run my amp mic'd up through the P.A. so you're settings may be different depending on the environment you play. In the house the volume is way lower so I increase the gain to compensate.
Great video mate, but I think the sound you're looking for should be on the ultra gain channel with the gain button ”out” . Adjust the gain button to about 3 and then work your guitar volume for lead boost. I'm in a cover band and I play AC/DC also, I can get any sound I'm looking for on the ultra gain channel, from VH to Ozzy (push in ultra gain for Randy sound). Most versatile amp I have ever played.
Just wanted to say a massive thank you for this. I’ve been taking my guitars to shops for years for a set up. Got a new guitar this morning and using this vid set it up… this was also my first attempt!! Cheers mate.
Have you checked your tunning? The first 30 seconds chords do nae sound the same to me. Anyway, good track decision, love tje powerage album and this song!
Thanks K Wilde - It should be picked though buddy, the only time he hammers on and pulls off is in the moments he plays it live and raises his right arm to work the crowd.
Solodallas TSR pedal. It’s maker; is a massive AC/DC fan. Angus used to use Shaeffer wireless system. Fil and his team reproduced the shaeffer towers and even presented one to Angus in Vancouver during the recording of Rock Or Bust. They’ve put the same technology into the TSR ( the shaeffer replica) pedal. YOU NEED THIS!!!!
Like the video man. I just got myself a new Gibson SG standard and I absolutely love it. I can’t see myself going back to any other guitar after the SG. I’ve always been a fan of Ibanez s series guitars and have used them for years but so far nothing I’ve owned compares to the SG. The sound, playability, and look of an SG are all top notch in my opinion
I’ve always been a gibson fan and owner. Had my first 335 at 17. But epiphone was getting me more and more curious and I ended up buying an epiphone les paul custom. I’m in love with the guitar! 🎸🇵🇹
Glad you got that fixed.. not a cheap fix I know.. but worth it.. give the Solodallas storm pedal a look.. I love it.. Angus uses the shaffer diversity system from them as well.. was the secret to recording powerage onward.. even Mutt Lange found out Angus does not sound the same without the boost from the wireless.. cheers!!
Yeah, well worth the money for the repair, I use a line6 gt75 wireless these days, gives a nice boost and has a nice bright tone. I've been looking at the solodalas schafer replica wireless but I doubt I will spend the money, 1k + for a wireless system. Its horrifically overpriced.
Enjoyed the vid and your journey.. good grab of a jcm 2000 or even a jcm 900 for cost.. but please have a look to Solodallas and all the work Fil has done on Angus tone.. I have a Solodallas boost pedal and it is Angus in a box... I use it with a splawn (modded marshall) and an old marshall major modded to a superlead circuit.. love the boys and RIP mal..!!
Really enjoyed that, thanks. You're a natural for clear and well-paced explanations. It's also nice and clear camera work so we can see what you're doing on the playing and settings. I'll now subscribe and look forward to watching more. Also, I'll look into UK/DC as I'm not aware of you, even though judging from your accent you're not far from me? (I'm near Morpeth). Thanks again, all the best, Mick
I bought a poorly dsl 50 i got it because the cab etc was imaculate no rips or anything. I probably could have fixed it. But i decided to buy the latest board and a brand new set of tubes. And its awesome.
@@ukdc-acdctribute1142 I have quite a few amps. I like the Marshall DSL1 HR its a small 1w valve head. But i also have a Marshall MG15 stack never liked it much. So i took out the cheap marshall mg speakers. And fitted Marshall Vintage 60's which where alot heavier. And the DSL1 HR head fits perfectly and wow it sounds awesome! it moves alot of air now and it sounds like a cranked plexi as its 1w it does'nt take much to get break up. Its still a loud little thing though perfect for the home with limited space.
I appreciate that you took the time to make this video and the first half was great! I was hoping that this wouldn't be another gear demo/comparison recorded with a phone mic though. These mics just aren't able to pick up the frequencies that you'd need to hear to get a proper idea of the difference between the two guitars. That's especially true when the strumming is almost as loud as the amp. As I said though, I still appreciate it!
Yes I agree, I wanted to do a full video that exposes and highlights all of the physical elements and tech specs on both guitars, i have kept the volume low in an attempt to capture as best I can but it never quite gets it, I think it still works as a comparison between the 2 in terms of how different the sound is but it doesn't quite capture the exact sound. I will do another video capturing the sound and I will use my marshal as that is the sound most people are looking for.
