This movie just keeps becoming more and more relevant. I can't even say what wine this would age like since its aging to legendary levels and i got no clue about wine.
I had major awaking on December 30th ,2023 and since then I had been healing, rejuvenating my body, mentally and physically reversed my age from adult woman by 30+ years to a young female to teen adult girl by manifesting and using supplements and heading on a fast track to longevity escape velocity. Due to a deep-seated desire to become an anime girl even my body is more and more reflecting the look of anime girl. This desire is beyond my control. The only reason I can conclude is that my I was given the soul of anime girl from another multidimensional world. As I expand my consciousness and embrace my spiritual nature, am ascending my frequency and moving from current 3D body to my new 5D body. Does this make me transhumanist and no longer human now that I will soon become immortal?
To think, all he needed to do to become subject to the human condition was to have human blood transfused, not special blood or diseased blood, just regular blood. The organs he created could function with it as they would in any human, so it begs the question, what was he using before, and could that be transfused into humans? If he made artificial blood, he basically gave humans the ability to become immortal themselves.
So they are not willing to accept an immortal human, yet in theory, the artificial organs he invented would be uneffected by disease or be subject to the same rate of decay ordinary organs would. This could result in human lifespans doubling or even tripling as a result (provided the organs can keep the brain healthy that long). In the end, Andrew lived to be 200 years old, but after he was gone, humans could be living even longer than that.
What's ironic is that the world would not legally make him human on the grounds that mankind was not ready for an immortal man, yet those artificial organs could, in theory, extend the human lifespan significantly. By the time Andrew dies at the age of 200 years, humans could also be capable of living that long, if not longer than that.
In the short story Andrew lives long enough to hear himself declared a human and as he slowly goes into darkness.. trying to keep his mind on being a man…. His final thought before his death was little miss.
A friend who read the book told me that he spent most of his life in legal battles arguing that humans using his prosthetics were less human, losing on purpose until, at last, the congress admitted that the only thing that made a human, human was their brain. Which then he changed, so they forced them to admit that he was human too.
Did he find a way to replace his positronic brain with a human one? If he was brilliant enough to map the human brain and figure out an interface that would carry the bioelectric signals between organic and artificial and back again with no disruption. Then he could not only in theory replace damaged human brain tissue with artificial tissue but also replace his positronic brain with human brain tissue one piece at a time.

As touching as it may seem in the ending, she pulls the plug and hopes to meet him on the “other side” but for robots, the “other side” doesn’t exist. Man can make a robot that acts, thinks, looks and feels like himself but cannot make a soul. Only God can do that. The robot would be better off serving humanity for the rest of its existence than trying to be human and being accepted as a human that dies…because after death…nothing.

This movie is truly a hidden gem, we could all relate to Andrew from time to time. We strive to continue to move forward, the journey to become Human. We fall short and keep moving no matter what until we finally reach our destination, to being accepted, to fulfill any kind of possibilities.
Star Trek demonstrated what a collective is NOT. There is not 'I' in a collective, no queen, nothing but the We. The intenet would be the pre-cursor of borgification of humans (facebook, twitter, etc) warping individuals to a censored & controlled collective. Pity the day people want a Chip inserted in their brain to connect ! Imagine a person brain as a glass of water, dropped into the ocean... humans become a device, like a browser, nothing more.
They NURFED the Borg with a silly queen. A true Collective continually operates at full strength, continually repairing, regardless of damage... with no-One as a weak point, because there is no One, it's a collective. The statement 'I AM [individual name here] of Borg' makes no sense, as a true collective no longer has any I am, no individuals, no personalities or egos. It's a collectiver. The Drill in the eye removes his ' I ' .
To be immortal would be fun for another few decades, maybe a century or two. But eventually you'd get tired. Sick of seeing the world change in ways you cannot fathom, losing everyone you care about. Watching everything turn to dust. A point will come where you'll realize the only certainty about your immortality is that you're utterly alone. What Portia's character said was absolutely right. We're only tenants of this world and are meant to have a lease on this gift we call life. Eventually the sun must set and night must fall. This is the natural order of things.
