There's a lot of people not understanding the directions as I didn't either, I couldn't figure out how to have it cycle on secific days (wedn, Fri, Sun), the directions suck. Figured it out finally. Some people even took it back as even rain bird couldn't tell them how. LMAO
Hi, I have been doing my best to fix a short Alarm on a 2 wire System, just to let the Professionals know I had this controller shut down the entire system when you find the Short cut the wire to the Decoder to remove the Short if not it’s like Shutting down all watering till you can replace and put the code number for the valve not very Complicated but it’works on a frequency like a fax machine Dialing or calling the number on the Decoder line. Pretty Cool. Thanks if you understand I Love the Technology and how far we have Advanced. John Garrison
I love Rain Bird, BUT... I HATE these valves. I see these go bad very quickly. It's always the solenoid. The real problem is when installers use these as a MASTER valve, the solenoid goes bad quickly, and the WHOLE SYSTEM doesn't work, and people lose large patches of their lawns and beds quicklyin the 100+ degree heat because the HV valve master valve solenoid fails. Yes, people should be running routine monthly or weekly system checks on their irrigation systems, but many folk do not do that. Many other valves out there have a 10-20 year lifespan, not 3-5 years, like I see consistantly with the HV. 💩
I have a problem as my valve seat does not seem to stop the water flowing when the tap is on. The sprinklers will just turn on automatically, what can I do? In my other systems I can turn the valve seat on manually to turn the sprinklers on but this one does not seem to do the same.
as soon as we replace with the Solenoid and we have connected to the watering scheduler, we tighten it clockwise or have it loose? (we want it to be watered automatically by the scheduler)

You can’t twist the sprinkler body once it is installed in the ground. You must remove the sprinkler assembly and rotate it to the proper start position and then reinsert it in the sprinkler body. The unit works well, but Rain Bird’s instructions are wrong. (Which is pretty poor marketing on their part.)
You cannot adjust the starting point by rotating the entire sprinkler case after it has been screwed into the water source fitting. The sprinkler assembly must be removed and repositioned after the sprinkler body has been installed in place. Once you have cycled the sprinkler head clockwise to the full right position and then counterclockwise to the full left starting position you must remove the sprinkler assembly from the case. Lift it up from the position retainer slots in the base of the case, and rotate it to the position you want it to begin, then reinsert it in the case. When you screw the assembly back together the sprinkler head may change position, but once it’s tight, you should be able to rotate the head counterclockwise back to its proper starting point.
my biggest gripe with these RVAN's is that, why is increase throw distance clockwise and decrease as anti-clockwise? just like when you close a faucet, you turn clockwise to shut it, but making the increase=clockwise, decrease=anti-clockwise, it messes up with your brain.

This timer is NOT intuitive, and this video is not helpful. Whoever is in charge with training/marketing is clueless. They need to define their terms, and explain how to use the feature by giving examples of what you might do with that feature and why you would NOT use the feature in certain cases. “Application” training not function training.
Very confusing controller to program. All I wanted was 2 programs and had to buy this one. I also cant get the WIFI module to work consistently. ESP controllers much simpler.
The concept of "efficiency" is a bit vague. Poor distribution patterns are one thing; in/hr rates are another. Their U series and HE-VAN nozzles have similar in/hr outputs, from 1.5 to 1.7 in/hr at the same 30 psi, while the basic MPR heads vary at far higher outputs. Partly depending on soil type and slope, high rates may pool or run off, so the slower rates can better match penetration. Rotator heads put maybe half that rate, but don't mist, so in very dry climates they might be a better choice, but timing will need to be doubled. "Scheduling coefficient" makes no sense, at least regarding "efficiency," which for me seems like the minimizing of evaporative loss from misting, hence coarse droplets evenly distributed at the fastest rate the soil can absorb, for long enough to saturate to keep the grass roots moist between 2-3 day watering intervals.
I wanted to download a manual for this from the Rainbird site, but while it says it's a ESP-TM2, the manual available isn't quite the same. For instance it has 'run days' vs 'water days' on the timer and the instructions for changing that don't work on this model. I had to do a lot of trial and error and finally got it to work by holding down 2 buttons at the same time. Please provide a manual to download for this model.
Absolute POS. The entire product development team should be fired. Always losing connection, always "in another connection" besides mine, and always SLOW AS DIRT.
finally figured it on how to connect. spent 24 hours over three days and finally Rain Bird customer service person helped me. First person doesn't know what he is telling. wasted one hour with him. Waited three hours and called again. this time a lady picked-up the call and right from get go, she knows what is telling me and booom. in 15 minutes its connected. Summary : There high level steps. 1) Press the center button to get the "green and red" flashing 2) Connect to the rainbird wifi 3) add the controller 4) switch the wifi (from rainbird) to local wifi 5) it will fail here. It's ok 6) screen says, do you want to try again, say NO 7) it will connect in local mode. its fine just connect. 8) once connected, select the "gear" button at the right bottom of the iphone 9) Here is the trick that get you connected: a) select "controller info" b) in the controller "password" box, enter 12345678 C) done d) Done 10) it will connect to internet now. Based on my tech knowledge, who appears to he happening here is, the version of software that is on the wifi module developers forgot to remove the standard testing password on the API that connects to rainbird servers. So the password for the "controller" must be 12345678 initially. Once connected, you can change to what ever you like, or If this is too complex, during set-up it will ask for controller password. Give it 12345678. it should work.
