@thatguyaknow5557 joe pace, is the one who chugged the beer on the ice, he was with us for one or two games down in baton rouge, beacause our bus broke down so we flew our starting line out, but Joe pace and his beer league friends decided to help us out and play for us (with our starting line) basically it was just a fed moment
I believe if a certain owner stops monopolizing on the league and cramming their teams in Harry Potter closets and invest in better bussing and travel and the league look into expanding in the middle states I believe this league could be much better. Topeka is not a good idea next season at all. I don’t see that lasting long.
As a kid, i was totally unaware of this even being a possibility and was watching how hard the early 90s nhl was and didnt want to get hurt or killed 😅
Even to this day, many people (including countless players) don't often know the great hockey and lifestyle combo European pro hockey has to offer 😃 🏒 one of the best regions in the world to continue to play the best game in the world 🌍
We should do an episode on the Sea Wolves team and location....we've been placing players in Europe for the past 12 years so that's our main lane but we've scouted and attended numerous minor league games in the US over the years. Biloxi Coast Coliseum and the Biloxi/Gulfport region is one of the best setups location-wise in all of minor league hockey 🏖🏒😎
one tip. its pretty annoying that your voice only comes out in my left ear. for me its hard to focus when its like that :) other than that, good video!
Meet Dan^...he's our new in-house geographer. Not only does he remind us all that the FPHL is not based in Europe...but he's just a great salt of the earth type of guy that loves hockey.....and also happens to be world class at all things geography related 😉🏒🌍 next beverage "in Europe" is on us!!
Congrats to your team. They had a strong season/playoffs with some quality players making a big difference this season in them bringing home the hardware!
Loads of great info here. I became a fan during the current season. Saw some fine play. Have to brag a bit, my Binghamton Black Bears just won the Commissioner's Cup, sweeping the playoffs! Looking forward to next season.
Thanks Kenneth- we're glad you enjoyed it 💪 🏒 🏆 Tip of the hat to your club on taking home FPHL league hardware. They had a solid roster and some great players there this season!
Thanks Jordan. You got it 🎯 🏒Our teams already working on it- just wrapping up a couple more interviews for latest insights w/ players + coaches in the league. Should have it released in next month or two!
Feels weird as hell seeing the high attendance numbers, considering that my local team pulls similar figures each night, and they're a Finnish *premier league* (Liiga) team. The league is considered to be pretty much the third or fourth highest level of hockey in all of Europe, right behind the SHL and sort of neck and neck with the NLA in Switzerland. Lower tier leagues that are more comparable to the Fed in the level of competition struggle to pull even 50 people a night. Wish people around here would show that kind of support and interest in the minor leagues 😂
You bring up an interesting point. A few of the biggest variables that likely impact the higher fan attendance numbers even at the Single-A pro level in North America is a combination of higher population sizes in the United States (in general) paired with the big one of most of these teams being the highest tier hockey team (or maybe even the only minor league sports team overall) in that particular town they are based in- making it a popular event to take part in for locals....even in some of these small market towns in the US. PS: We love attending/scouting games in Finland 💪 🏒
@@PlayHockeyInEurope Population is definitely the biggest factor. New York City alone has a larger population than all of Finland. The small town thing you mentioned with there not being any higher tier teams in the area - I don't think that really is a variable that changes a whole lot of anything since that is also true for a lot of Division 2 and 3 teams in Finland as well. I'm originally from a small town with a Division 2 hockey team, and nobody was interested in going to those games. Only people who work within the organization or have friends playing there really do, and still even they weren't regulars. It's mostly an attitude thing. It's premier league or nothing, even Mestis teams (second-highest tier) struggle to really form a fanbase and a culture around the team. And it's not just lack of interest, I feel like there's even a certain stigma to it. Like, if I'd ask a friend to come to the local Division 2 game with me, they'd laugh me off and think I'm being weird.
@@deekusucks spot on with the stigma part in terms of the broader perception...completely different. On that note, we'll join for you a Liiga and for that Division 2 match. Win win for us....can enjoy a few beverages at both 🍻 😉
^great idea- planning to. We just spoke with a few import players and staff members on clubs there and VHL for additional insight for it. Glad you're enjoying the hockey league content so far🏒 🌍
Elmira season ticket holder here…personally I enjoy the Fed…games are very competitive and intense… officials are very professional…teams and players are community friendly….players and coaches do very well with interacting with their fan base, especially the younger fans. Even visiting teams are kind to the fphl fan base…I’ve personally talked with Danbury players and thier head coach … both were extremely personable and willing to take time for a conversation… I do the fed stays around here in Elmira… I couldn’t live with myself if I have to support the black bears…
That's great to hear Matthew. Agreed on the positive community interactions from players to coaching staffs from what we've seen across the board. It's always nice to see and positive for the game- especially to inspire the young ones 🏒 Glad you enjoyed the content on the league!!
Good question. That short few-second overlay clip at :23 is one of the few licensed clips we purchased so not sure about the specific arena, but the one following it is from Biloxi Coast Coliseum. Hope you enjoyed the video!
The promotion relegation system is not accurate. Team 13 and 14 in the SHL play a best of 7 series against each other and the loser is relegated. In Hockeyallsvenskan top 10 teams play in a play off system. First team 7 against team 10 and team 8 against team 9 play a best of 3 and the two winners moves onto the regular play offs with games best of 7. The winner of the play offs is promoted to the SHL.
Confirmed with one of our partners on this in Scandinavia and we let our videographer know to adjust/cut the small mention out in this particular video (should be adjusted now). Thanks for the comment, we appreciate it!
