Gosh, y’all are truly living such a dream!!! Incredible recap and I absolutely loved all of your music selections to go along with your different recap segments!! Although I didn’t personally get a shoutout this time it is a joy to be called friend by you two world travelers!! Love & hugs always and looking forward to many more videos in the years to come!!! ❤❤❤
I like your use of music. Nice and good sound level. People think it has to be ACDC on 11. I hate that. Certainly, Italy is one of the most or maybe the most historical site in the Western World. Convenient to Greece which is another.
@@jehuspirit8375 thank you! One of the things we love about Italy is its great location for traveling! It’s so easy to get to just about anywhere. 😁. Thank you so much for faithfully watching and commenting on our videos. It means a great deal to us. Love ya and miss ya. ❤️❤️
What a wonderful recap! You guys are really living the life and enjoying every minute. Thank you for putting together the pictures of your travels. They have been truly inspiring to me. You make it seem very easy, though I know there are a few twists and turns that can be challenging. One of my favorite things about you guys is that you have been married for so long and (still) enjoy each other and being adventurous together. Thank you for sharing this with us!
@@SunshineLindsay-o8g aaaawwwww. You are so very sweet! Thank you so very much! One of the many blessings we get out of traveling is meeting special friends like you. 😘. Thank you for watching and commenting. It means a lot to us. ❤️❤️
My wife and are scheduled for the November tour. We’re really looking forward to it. We’ve lived in the Washington DC metro area for over 20 years. We have spent time overseas-when I was in the US Army-about 12 years total: Panama, Japan, Côte d’Ivoire, and Mali…and I had some deployments (including a combat tour)/work trips overseas as well to more than a dozen other countries. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen much of Europe…I’ve only spent any significant amount of time in Spain (wife has family who live in Barcelona) on 3 occasions.
@@mr-vet 😂🤣. No problem. For some strange reason my phone didn’t show your whole message when I first saw it. 🤷🏼♀️ When we left the states last year we were living just about 2 hours from DC in the Shenandoah Valley. Thank you for your service! Our you fest son served in the National Guard for 14+ years and did 2 tours of duty in Afghanistan. We truly appreciate the sacrifices you and your family have made. Unfortunately we won’t be in Italy in November this year. We are currently in Albania but we head to Italy the 3rd week of July to close on our new home! 😁👏🏻. We will stay in Italy until the end of September and come back to Albania. We won’t be back in Italy until January. We’re going to have to do the Schengen shuttle for a couple of years until we get our residency. Do y’all plan to live in Italy or just a second home there? Maybe we can meet up sometime and share a meal together. Please let us know how you enjoy your tour. 😉
@@Where_in_the_world_are_we_now I was probably editing my comment when you first read it. Happy travels! One day, me and my wife will be doing the sam?
Wauw wauw what a ?? STUNNING Video and what a Beautiful places there're , Pacentro ow lord what a exeptinal town. Love it !! Thanks for this more than nice video . ❤ good luck everyone. Can't wait 2 be back . 26 june 🎉 yesss
Thank you so very much!!! ❤️❤️. I won’t be able to stay up and watch your video live tonight because we are visiting a different city in Albania and have to get up early to take the bus back to Sarande. I will watch it once we get back, though. Hope all is well with you! I will message you once we get back ‘home’.
Thank you so much! That’s very kind of you to say. ❤️❤️. We are so excited! It’s like waiting for Christmas morning when you’re a child. 😉. Thank you for watching.
@@theRealRobMart140 that is so true! It has absolutely incredible views, for sure! My impression of the town is probably somewhat skewed, so I wouldn’t put too much stock in it. We didn’t see much of the town and only one house there that was, let’s say, ‘unique’. 😉. Access to public transportation is a big priority for us, too. Prezza has very little of that available. I think it really is important, if possible, for people to view the areas they’re interested in. Especially if you’re going to be making it your home and not just an investment. We were surprised that that there were areas that we thought would be perfect for us that didn’t feel perfect when we visited them. There were also areas we had doubts about that we ended up loving! 🤷🏼♀️. I absolutely fell in love with Pacentro but it is not a practical place for us to live. Thankfully we can visit there any time we want. 😉 I’m so glad y’all have found your perfect place there and maybe we can meet up sometime and share a meal. 😁
Actually almost anyone can buy a home in Italy. There might be a few countries that are excluded. 🤷🏼♀️. The challenging part comes when wanting to live there full time. You can get an elective residency visa, which is good for one year and renewable for up to 5 years, I believe. I need to double check those things again. 🤦🏼♀️. Citizenship is definitely not required to buy a home, there, however.
Fantastic video of your tour. This is Dana and Denise, we met you at the Tax office. We ended up buying a home in Pratola, hopefully close soon. And we were talking about doing the first 90 day shuffle in Albania, we will meet up soon.
Oh wow! That’s fantastic! Congratulations! 😁🍾👏🏻. Thank you so much for the kind comment! We are hoping to be in Italy for some of July and all of August. September through December we will be here in Albania. It would be awesome to meet up somewhere over on this side of the Sea! 😉. Keep us updated and we’ll try to work things out. Albania is a beautiful country! 😉
@@Where_in_the_world_are_we_now Hi, I was talking to my wife about where you are living now, Albania. I think we will head over there in July. Do you think your landlord at your place would like another tenant for 3 months? Are you in Tirana?
@@wearegrindfind4075 how exciting! 😁. Here is my idea. We are currently in Sarande until June 27th. We will be heading to Tirana on the 27th. This all gets a little crazy from here, so bear with me. 😉. We will be closing on our house in Raiano sometime between the middle to the end of July. We won’t know any specific date until probably next week. I was wondering if y’all would be interested in sharing an apartment in Tirana for the month of July. I found two apartments that are 2bedroom/2baths with AC, washer, kitchen, etc for between $1200 and $1400 for June 27th through July 31st. Tirana is not a cheap city and it has no off season, so this would save us both some money. We will stay until we have to fly back to Italy, then y’all can stay until the end of the month. Once we go to Italy we will be stay there through the month of August and then heading back to Albania. We will probably be heading north to Shkodër for the month of September. Sorry to make this such a long reply, but as I said, buying our house in Italy has changed all our plans for this year. 😉
Just wanted to let you know that I have already booked a place for us in Tirana because I hadn’t heard back from you. I hope we can meet up in Tirana sometime during July. 😉
One thing I have noted with the "ride along" videos as people travel... If you were born before about 1990, your videos will be about *where* you are. If you are born after that date, the same videos will be about where *you* are. Both my wife and I, born in 1966, are not at all comfortable making any of our videos about us, and being on camera. Our 24 YO daughter on the other hand... Kudos to you both for getting out of about every comfort zone you might have otherwise had, it seems.
Thank you so much! We thought it was really fascinating. Thank you being such a faithful watcher, supporter and commenter on our channel. It means a lot to us! ❤️❤️
Hi Lorrie and David, came upon your channel via your comments on the 20 yr old Canadian Ms. Rodriguez' channel. She is staying in Vlorë right now. You seem to have been to a number of cities in Albania. A 76 yr old US citizen with VERY limited means, I will go to Albania in Oct 2024. Would you be so kind and recommend which city/town I should choose to spend a month or two this fall to get a good idea what the country is about? Thank you very much.
Hello. How wonderful that you’re interested in visiting Albania. It used to be quite undiscovered but I just read a report last week that said this year Albania has broken a record. They have had 1.7 million people visit this country in just the first 3 months of this year! 😮. 735,000 of them were in the month of March alone, which is a 91% increase over the same month last year. My husband and I have been in Albania since February 13th. We spent a week in Tirana, a month in Durres and now a month in Vlorë. We leave tomorrow to go to Ksamil for 5 days, then to Sarande for 9 weeks. We will be spending a year here and plan to see as much of this beautiful country as we can. We are looking for where we want to live now that my husband is retired. As you know, it’s very challenging, if not close to impossible, to live in the states any more once you’re retired. My husband gets a small pension and will not collect his social security for 4 more years, so our travel budget is pretty tight. We have a budget of around $1600 a month. It’s so heart breaking to me that we can afford to travel to most of the world on that budget, and yet, we could never live in our home country on that amount. ☹️ It would help me to be able to give you a better answer if you could share what kind of places you like. Do you prefer big cities, smaller towns? We don’t drive here, and it’s one of our top priorities to not drive ever again, so public transportation or affordable taxis are important to us. Would that be the same for you? For me, each place we e been to so far has had its pros and cons. Tirana is the capital so there is public transportation, plenty of things to see and do in a couple of months time. We really enjoyed it there and we plan on spending our last two months in Albania there. In Fall anywhere along the coast will be very affordable. Durrës is ok. There is public transportation and some really cool historical sites to see. We didn’t stay in the city there but about 4 or 5 miles south of the city. If I remember correctly, it was only about $5 to take a taxi to the city. We do a lot of walking, and even though it was chilly (in the 50’s during the day), it was lovely to walk along the shore every day. Vlorë is beautiful! Again, we are not in the city center, but there is a bus that comes 4 times a day at the bottom of our street that we take to go to the city. It’s incredible! The bus is decent and it only cost 42 cents each way! 😮. There is a long promenade in the city to walk along and there are plenty of grocery stores and restaurants. There are some towns not too far away that are cool to visit. We took a tour to Berat from here. I would definitely recommend doing that, if you can. In Vlorë the Adriatic Sea and the Ionia Sea come together here. One of the challenges of being at the Sea in off season is that a lot of things are not open. We certainly don’t feel as though it was a hardship as there is enough open to take care of necessities. One of the advantages, of course, is that it’s much more peaceful and way less traffic and tourists in off season. We will get to discover what peak season is like at the Sea while we are in Sarande and I’m almost dreading it. 😬 From Durrës, Vlorë and Sarande you can take a ferry to Italy. In Sarande we are going to take a ferry to Corfu, Greece, which I’m really excited about! After we leave Sarande we will finally be heading more into the countryside. We will be going along the eastern side of Albania. I’m sorry this is such a long reply. 🤦🏼♀️. If you want, we can keep in touch between now and September and I can let you know about some of the places away from the Sea. Albania is beautiful and the people here are wonderful. They are the most pro-America people you will ever meet! The food is great and the cost is generally very affordable. If you have any further questions I’ll be glad to answer them the best I can. Thank you for reaching out. 😁
Not to worry about the lengthy reply! I appreciate it very much! Yes, I'd love to stay in touch. My budget is lower than yours, not into metropolitan life (Tirana is just about as much city as I can take), no car, history buff, frugal by necessity, minimalist by choice. Will finding accomodations in Tirana in October for under €500 be near impossible?
@@frugalvanner7488 I appreciate your kindness! I think that budget would be challenging in Tirana. Unfortunately it doesn’t have an ‘off’ season, so the prices don’t fluctuate much. I am in several expat groups on facebook and I will ask them if they have any recommendations, if you’d like me to. I think it’s one of those situations where you would have to know a local to get a better rate. A suggestion might be to look at Durrës. It’s only 30 minutes from Tirana, so you could go there occasionally to check out the historical sites there. There are always ride shares and buses to and from both cities. The buses run very differently here than any other place we’ve been but they are extremely reasonably priced. I’m including a link for one place I found within your budget in Durrës that is right in the city. You can generally walk everywhere there. www.booking.com/Share-w0A3sUd
@@Where_in_the_world_are_we_nowThanks again! Yes please, recommendations by folks with personal knowledge are best. BTW, NEFELI (your link) has no availability at my desired time frame. Is there a way we can PM?
Very nice music. I detest super loud heavy metal everybody seems to favor. David found him a buddy I see. Do you know if this whole thing is the Orthodox Church or the Catholic tradition?
I am not certain, but I believe it is most likely orthodox faith. Thank you so much for being so faithful in watching and commenting on our videos! ❤️❤️
Thank you for the information. I loved the sights and sounds of the little town you went to outside Paraguay. The family treated you so well. I loved all the smiles. Love you both so much.❤
Great video and beautiful photos. I really enjoyed them. I am from Asuncion, Paraguay. Itacurubi looks so quiet and peaceful; I need to go back and visit the place again. Thank you,
Nice video! I have been checking for prices for properties in Asuncion. For example. I have seen 1bed 1 bath for an apartment for us dollars 67,300 or 97,900 2 bed 2bath in Tambetary, Asuncion. I don't think I agree with you for expensive properties in Asuncion.
Thank you so much for watching. You are probably right. I guess I should have specified that we couldn’t find anything affordable in Asuncion for what we were looking for. We were looking for a house or land to build a house on. Our Airbnb host showed us some properties and the land was much more expensive than I would have expected in Paraguay. One particular lot he showed us was just a basic lot that was not very nice looking and he told us that lot was selling for $400,000 USD!! 😮😮. Maybe we had the wrong person showing us property. 😉. We did, however, buy a lot in Itacurubi that we liked, to build on in the future.
@@Where_in_the_world_are_we_now Congratulations for buying a lot in Itacunbi!!! I have enjoyed your videos of Paraguay. When go back to South America, I will visit Asuncion, Caacupe, Encarnacion, and Cuidado del Este .
@@griseldaoliva618 that’s wonderful!f we really loved Asuncion. Caacupe was cool, too, although I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near that area at the first half of December. 😉😮. We saw Ciudad del Este when we went to the Iguazú Falls. It’s definitely NOT a tourist destination. It’s mainly a business center. We hope to get to visit Encarnacion on our next visit. I would recommend, if you can, to go to the Falls while you’re in Paraguay. It’s incredible! San Bernardino is also a pretty cool place, although I wouldn’t swim in the lake (although lots of people do). Thank you so very much for watching and commenting! ❤️❤️
So funny was just thinking about you guys today.....I'm back from Florida and glad to be home. Had to go into the hospital down there for 5 DAYS!! I'm okay now my friend flew down to help me drive home so I didn't have to stay down there. Stay safe and have a great time discovering the world.
I’m so sorry to hear you were in the hospital, but I’m glad to hear you’re back home. Thank you so much for watching and supporting us! ❤️. We miss you.
Surprising you didn't get any chili hotness on your finger and then touch your eye. Mayan stingless bees huh. Next thing you will telling us about dogs that don't bite and women that don't fuss at their husbands.
Thank you! Of course, the videos and pics just don’t quite convey the true majesty of it, we tried to capture at least the essence of the whole experience. Thank you so much for watching. ❤️❤️
