Hi! I'm Alyssa, a stylist and content creator, here to demystify personal style and unlock your untapped creativity. My approach goes beyond styling-I educate and empower you to understand the "why" behind your style choices, and ultimately create your perfect wardrobe!
I am sorry, but the majority of suggested outfits do not suit SDs at all. As a SD I would stay away from the bomber jacket, jeans with contrasting cuffs, double breasted trench coat. These would make me look huge. The biker jacket has also proven to be a problematic item for me, I'd look much better in a single breasted jacket with a biker vibe. I also dislike the width the pleated pants create over my lower abdomen, I opt for pleat-free pants. I am not too fond of the teal blouse with wrapped panels - simply because it's too loose and oversized; I'd opt for a ballerina style wrap top instead, or any top that hugs the body well.
This capsule was created for a real SD woman who wanted to achieve a slightly sporty and edgy style - What works for some certainly won't work for others, but this is just one example of a capsule for an SD woman 🥰 We are all so different, even within one body type!
this is great. I will be implementing this. I do not have enough essentials. And the basics I have are not in my color season, body type, or core style, since I purchased them before finding out these 3 things. I think once I have my essentials together, my wardrobe will become actually wearable.
Your videos are very helpful and informative! Outfits are great, you especially shine in the green blouse. I would be very curious to see you in soft natural lines, makeup, hair…could be a fun video:)
I’d love to hear more about what you’re hoping to see in my wardrobe! Are you looking for me to talk through the outfit building process using essentials, seasonals, and statements? Or do you just want to see what I’ve put in each category in my own wardrobe? The example images I used were from my wardrobe, but I know those were quite quick!
Love the video ! Thank you for such a detailed explanation. I started using index last month or so. I haven’t input all of the items yet but I already have more than 400 items in my digital wardrobe, it’s a little bit scary to be honest. Moving on I want to understand my dressing habits better so I can also do some declutter. Definitely enjoying the experience.
Very helpful thank you for this breakdown been wanting to learn it simce forever… i can’t seem to grasp what essentials stand for and distinguish between essentials and seasonals since seasonals for me is the broader term that holds essentials inside it so 4 different essentials or am i missing something?
I like to think of Essentials as items that stay in my wardrobe year-round (or at least for 3 seasons). Essentials always make you feel your best and represent your style. Seasonals are items that I rotate in and out every 6 months or less. Seasonals can be attached to an actual season or they can be anything you like to rotate in and out every 3-6 months 🥰
So simple, but so good! This is going to help so much when getting dressed. I started figuring out my essentials and I can already tell this is going to be super useful. And it kind of gives me permission to rewear my essentials a lot, without feeling like I'm not stylish for doing so.
I have zero idea what I am. Hour glass but short. Mixed face features. Broad and strong. So a muscular hourglass that’s short and not really soft. I am too curvy for soft natural, too much width for soft gamine. No others come close. All clothes look decent except clothes that make the lower half look bigger. Have spent last 12hrs not being able to figure it out.
I am a very skinny person, this is overwhelming even with all the videos, i thought I was theoretical romantic cause i related to everything but height and double curve. Even when I add weight its in my face, inner arms and thighs. I'm a little top heavy. Thats it. Im confused. Help
I feel like I am really straight with no curves and I'm slim with chubby cheeks and big eyes, full lips and a round nose. My body is an inverted triangle and I'm really slim. But I have baby face and my friends make fun of my cheeks. I thought it was water weight cause I'm slim with round cheeks because last year I my dad showed my photos to some family members they had all assumed I was fat because of my cheeks because the photo was face photo. I have feminine face and masculine body, I don't have curve. I'm straight. Pls help. How do I dress up. I just wear jeans everyday!!!!!
This video is made perfectly 😊, you made it so clear ❤ . I still don’t know what type I am though 😂 , I’m not sure what my dominant features are . I have a short vertical line, width , I think mostly sharp bones , yin flesh , small hands and feet , romantic essence ❤, I think I have double curve, and sharp shoulders.
Soft Natural, Soft Autumn here! Literally just ordered about 25 item after watching this video! Im going back to work so i needed a wardrobe upgrade! I've never been so excited for an online order! Thank you for your content it was suuuper helpful! 😁😁😁
Agreed! It's not so much about categorization as it is a tool to better understand ourselves. I found the Kibbe system really validating, and it helped me to love my body more! I've always felt like I had strangely wide shoulders since most mainstream clothing that fits my bust and waist tends to be extremely tight and poor-fitting through the shoulders. Understanding that there are tons of really stylish and well-dressed women who have a similar body shape (Flamboyant Naturals in the Kibbe system), gave me a really useful reference for developing my own style! Now I enjoy my strong shoulders and feel that they are an integral part of my personal style 🥰
You talk too slow and take forever to get to the point and then, when you actually show an outfit you do it for only 2 seconds each. We are interested in looking at the outfits first. You can deconstruct them and give extra info after that. Ain't nobody got time for all this bla bla bla about irrelevant information only to be shown a way too fast snippet of the actual capsule wardrobe.
@alyssarudman thanks a bunch! I've been back and forth about it because i feel like I'm quite soft around the edges but being that I'm midsize it's been hard to figure out specifics on what tips me one way or the other
I think I'm a flamboyant gamine due to my height (5ft) and mix of ying and yang features. But because I have wide-ish ribs and narrow hips, when I wear the clothes often suggested for FG, I look stuffy in them. I weigh 100lbs. Is that a sign I'm not an FG ?
