Love this song and Amy! Everybody tries to sugarcoat this song as about a broken relationship. In a way it is about a relationship but its her relationship with rock cocaine also. Most ppl have no experience with rock cocaine and so don't understand. When smoking coke (crack) there is a lot of black soot residue from the burning and melting of the substance. So a person's hands inadvertently become coated in black from constant handling the black soot coated pipe. Amy has coined a new phrase for smoking cocaine and her addiction to it. She is going "Back to Black" as in going to smoke again. The rolling penny is maybe her feeling after a hit of smoke or the almost immedient craving for another hit. Remember the first song of this album is titled Rehab. In Memory .. May she be remembered in/on that Day
i always understimate her just for stupid gossip.... but... first of all she's just a fuc***g genius.. and then.... that voice... and... those lyrics... and it's always them who pass away toooooooo early... now i listen again in her honor!! great artist!!! 🙌🔥🔊
As did I. As a huge fan of Jim Morrison she also has been smeared but was amazing. A very complex person with an incredible voice and well ahead of her years. Wish I could have been there to tell them they don't need to listen to anyone. Just be yourselves.
