Rambles about walks, photography, history and points of interest (or uninterest!) Join me as I enjoy the great outdoors, clocking up the miles with my best friend the camera. It's all just for fun!
Hi Rachel, I've did the Yorkshire 3 peaks 2 weeks ago and really enjoyed it, there again I go hiking every w,end. You will find Whernside is the easiest going up from the left side and a scramble down, then a nice meal in the pub to follow. Enjoy.
Just about to walk the stretch to Weybourne on Thursday!! Not looking forward to the shingle but taking it easy and dropping off at Dun Cow in Salthouse for lunch before continuing on to Weybourne....... then only the last stretch from Weybourne to Cromer to do..... have enjoyed watching your videos. We have enjoyed walking the coastal path.... have walked stretches over many years but never all 'joined up' so it has been great fun!
Yay! How did it go? We've had a little break from the coastal path while life gets in the way, but can't wait to pick it up again... we still have a significant way to go!
@@rachs.rambles Finished it on Monday! Great walking from Weybourne to Cromer apart from the caravan parks and some road walking as you pass Sheringham and hit the last stretch to Cromer. Highly recommend No 1 Cromer to eat in afterwards.... upstairs wonderful fish restaurant! Enjoy when you get to do it :)
I walked Whernside last year. Every one and I mean every one passes me when I'm walking, but hey I'm 73 years old so who cares. Doing Peny--ghent this spring but will probably take the longer walk. I prefer the steep stuff coming down. Which you get if you start Whernside from Blea Moor.
Great video, I drove it a few years back so it was good to relive a few of the memories. I drove it anti-clockwise too, loved the isolation and remoteness of it all, especially the north and west coasts.
Pity you didn't walk into Sandwood bay ,the most beautiful beach I have ever seen, and that includes visits to Hawaii ,Bali and the West coast of the USA
Hi Rach, enjoying watching your trip. I go on Thursday with my beautiful dog Ruby. Sooooo looking forward to it. Intending to wild camp most of the way.
Not long done Pen-y-ghent for the first time with a few friends and made a video too. In fact it premiered this morning 😁 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vtWvTm6wj9o.html
@@rachs.rambles Thank you 😁 I've subscribed to your channel too. We loved it but was very challenging! This was after doing Whernside in November (which I've also done a video on)
Thank you! We really loved our stay at Borlum House Farm near Thurso so definitely check them out. The Bettyhill Hotel is also a good stop (great food and helpful staff). Don’t forget to stop by Lochinver too for the best pies in the world at Lochinver Larder! Have a wonderful time.
great video rach, so glad you enjoyed your time with us, the beaches at durness are as lovely and as clean as you'll see anywhere! nice to hear you say good things about the food as so many english folk think scottish food is rubbish, no deep fried mars bars to be seen! the scenery along the top and down the west coast is really spectacular, a lovely video, thank you 👍🏼🏴🇬🇧
"NC500 is popular with motorhomes" so it might be but motorhomes aren't popular with those of us who have to live and work around the NC500. Those who hire them haven't a clue how to drive a larger vehicle on single track roads and the etiquette involved. They stop in laybys and leave their foul waste in the hedges, they drive slow and hold up local traffic, they bring nothing to the local economies as they stock up with fuel and food in Inverness. Then there's the boy racers who treat it as a racetrack, some of them go back south in wooden boxes. You think we like having you all up here? think again!
Thankyou for your Vlog :) A beautiful compact travel guide :))) oh and The use of what three words is THEEEEEE BEST for location sharing .. Just a beautiful job done and you can be rightfully proud of a video well produced and edited >)))))) BIG HUGS AND THANKYOU ..
Although Eilean Donan castle may have been there in the 13th century in some form. After the Jacobite rebellion it was totally destroyed and lay in ruins for 200 years. What you see today was built between 1911 and 1932, when it was finally finished- sorry, it is quite a modern building.
Great video guys, Glad you enjoyed your trip. The shot is from James Bond film 'Skyfall' with Daniel Craig and Judy Dench standing next to the Aston Martin
