I am humbled and honored to see that the MI is still doing the vast majority of the pregame show (9 minutes from 3:11 to 12:11) that I charted (using pens and a lightbox - no drill chart software back then) for Mr. Smith debuting in the 1986 season. I believe we were the first college band to form the outline of the US on the field, and it still brings applause. 😊 The stadium construction changed the run-on entrance, the show has flipped sidelines, and the band now sits in the endzone that changed the ending. But the majority of this classic show of patriotic and school songs endures. Great job MI !!! Thanks for carrying on the traditions and still being the best band in the land. ILL INI. My mom and dad met in your band. They performed in this. Mom just sent it to me. We had dad’s drum top from the Rose Bowl on our wall growing up. I actually still have mom’s shirt from this event in my closet 😅

Thanks for sharing the memories. Meaningful to me for several reasons. 1) I'm out there on the field marching, and 2) I wrote some of this drill.
