Im an 18 year old musician and self taught audio enthusiast, in this channel I upload the projects that I work on along with the material of my one man band 'Question Thy God'.
I use Mac Mini 2018 (i5/8gb/256gb + 1tb ssd on usb 3.0) and i completely change my mind set about ram and storage. 8gb is cool for audio editing and beat making BUT for launching preset with full orchestra instruments is just ok But what u said, 16gb ram is safe option (future-proof). + if your sampler have something like "purge all samples" just use this anyway (if u making presets :D)
So I’m looking at this the 8gb and 256gb model m1 I will use it for garage band for a single guitar and not really any layering will be going through my amp via usb and recording direct will this be fine? Also great video
Please lose the music. The music does not add to the video experience, but the music is very distracting and makes it very hard work to listen to what your saying.
nice review! but 1 hour in it overheats and slows down a bit or to the point where you cant use it like the intel 2017-2020 models which were horrible and traumatizing? Thanks, love Greece btw ;)
Thanks a lot for the comment! I haven’t used any intel model to the max apart from a few projects in audio school so I don’t have the experience to do a side by side comparison. Apart from that, yes, the M1 overheats about an hour or two after using it for hard work but that can be avoided by adding a cooling stand and reducing the buffer size in your DAW settings, something that helps a lot in the mixing process where you can have really cpu-hungry plugins. I might take the chance anyway and just get the base m1 air model and keep it for the next few years or so. I need it for mainly audio and midi, less VST's as I use outboard gear mostly these days, and they all heat up at the end of the day I think. My old ones I could fry an egg on them! Your greek is great! Let me know how it turns out with the Mac! You can always try and if it doesn’t fit you, you can resell it online and get some of your money back. But yeah, since most of the processing occurs in outboard gear you should be more than ok! Happy holidays and happy new year my friend!
Well I live in a densely populated city, I just haven’t found a drummer to work with, plus programmable drums are way easier to work with because you just write it with midi whenever you want and if done properly they sound a lot better than an actual drummer👌
Hey i just bought Mac M1 3 days ago and i updated it and now when i play high bass music i can notice disturbance in the sound in my left speaker what should i do ? (At Full Volume) And also not with every song but some song with high bass
Hey there, im 100% sure your problem has nothing to do with the Mac. Be sure to check your cabling, if you have old and teared up cables replace them, it’s either that or your rooms’ acoustics
In my case it improves a lot with the heating problem! You can find cooling stands around 20 to 30€ so you can easily give them a try! Hope that I was of help!
Yeah, heavy plug-ins running for long periods of time without a break or without an external cooler will result in loss of performance, which means cracks and pops and digital noise
Well If it’s what also happened to me I know what it is. You have to watch your gain input in your audio interface so as not to clip. One trick to get input gain right is to sing as loud as you can in front of the mic and playing around with the knob until it’s about -10 to -12 dbs. Lastly be sure to always record with a pop filter, hope I helped!🙃
Can the M1 handle 5-6 tracks of NDSP plugins 2 midi tracks with Superior Drummer and a bass midi track with EZbass and also recording guitar on a NDSP plugin???
Right now I was recording a new track for my one man project, in it I have 8 guitar tracks loaded with the Nolly archetype, another track for eurobass II and GGD Invasion drum library. The cpu usage with all that is only at 20% 😂😂😂 the performance is laughably good, it will handle anything you throw at it!!! Hope this comment helped you, cheers!😜

Πολύ καλό βίντεο και σαφώς παρέχει πιο ρεαλιστικές πληροφορίες, όσον αφορά την budget friendly κατηγορία που οι περισσότεροι κινούμαστε, σε σχέση με πολλά άλλα που έχω παρακολουθήσει. Έχω το μηχάνημα αυτό με specs 8GB+512GB και δεν το έχω μετανιώσει ούτε λεπτό. Σαν χρήστης Windows laptop με DAW Cubase, εκτιμώ ότι ο συνδυασμός mac+Logic είναι φωτιά! Βέβαια αυτό συνάδει και με τις προτιμήσεις του κάθε χρήστη. Και πάλι συγχαρητήρια για το βίντεο θα βοηθήσει και σίγουρα θα επιβεβαιώσει αρκετό κόσμο!!! Cheers friend \m/
I think that getting the 16gb RAM version would be the safest option, you can always add an external SSD for any of your projects if you go over the standard 256 GBs of storage space! RAM along with CPU are the most important aspects in a music production computer since all the processing is happening there, so that’s why I’d go for the 16gb version. Hope I was helpful! Thanks a lot William! In this video I was using a Blackstar LT metal pedal directly into my audio interface, I wouldn't recommend it tho, it's really cheap and doesn't sound that great by its own. I'm sure there are better pedals and amps out there, and if you're in a home studio, maybe an amp sim like the free Amped Roots would be better option. Hope that I was helpful!😁

No problem my friend! If you have a bigger budget then I would suggest going for the M2, it has a bigger and brighter screen, a faster processor and it has a cooling fan but that doesn't mean that is doesn't have any problems. If you think that you can use all the extra resources that it provides over the M1 then go for it! It will cost more but it will be more future-proof. Both laptops are great for audio production but the M2 is just a bit better. Anyway, I hope that I was able to help you make a choice!😁
Thanks a lot Jody! But I'm not sure I'd do this kind of cover today, I now only choose songs from which I can learn new skills in production, and also I think I will focus more on other kinds of videos since I'm writing new material for my one man band and that's already taking a lot of time.
