Welcome to my guitar teaching channel. My aim is to educate and offer a practical and fun way to learn guitar. I also make guitar orchestrations adapted from popular songs for multiple guitars to play together. There are colour codes on the videos that show you parts from easiest to harder to play.
The colour levels in order from easiest to hardest are:
White - beginner 1 Yellow - beginner 2 Orange - beginner 3 Green. - intermediate 1 Purple - intermediate 2 Blue - intermediate 3 Red - advanced 1 Black - advanced 2
Have fun working your way through each of the levels and test yourself by playing along with the DEMO for each song!
This is actually a great song to strum to build up stamina and learn to transition without looking. Plus, it's not Wonderwall. Also, this song is a great song to play to learn how to strum and sing at the same time. Great video man!
Thanks for this video, it’s hard to find good second guitar videos. Would love to hear about how to get started on writing second guitars (you’re talking about simple triads here, what is the harmonic logic behind it?).
Thanks! That's a big question.. Id suggest trying to build second gtr ideas from a number of different approaches depending on what skills you have already.. If you are good with scales then play around with how they sound over the chords you are working with. Try to find lines that work with each part of the song you are working on. If its a verse maybe don't fill it too much but rather leave space for the vocals to still be the star... If its a chorus that lifts then maybe think about how you might compliment that lift.. e.g a climbing line may add to the excitement.. I often look for a sympathetic open string that works over all the chords in a part.. then I'll try to incorporate that in with the lines I'm writing. Hope that helps!! PS Ill try to make sure to write more of these kind of 2nd gtr ideas in other videos so have a look and see if it helps inspire your writing:)
You are correct! I ended up only doing levels 1, 3 and 4 on this one.. Couldn't work out a level 2 type part but the level 3 one may be worth trying if you're keen?:)
