@Mark Wojciechowski Not really. I had to move my family out when the little gangbangers took over. A kid was shot and killed about a block from where I was living. Off of Pickering. Got shot in front of that little market by St. Marys. I moved. It's been downhill ever since.
I have an old business card for a place called L.O.B. - Little Old Bookshop. Chances are they no longer have that building, though it sounds like the place to be. Fewer franchise coffee shops and more places to scour used books, just a thought for making Uptown Whittier the destination.
Red oak BBQ sucks! They claim its Santa Maria style BBQ but its not tastes like cardboard cooked over oak wood. Trust me, I lived in Santa Maria about as long as I lived in whittier. And no mention of Rocky Cola lol that place has been there forever, Ricks too! Not too many of the old shops still around but a few are still hanging in there. I love up town. Has that down town San Luis obispo feel with out the one way streets. If only they could get rid of the homeless, put them on a greyhound bus and send them to San Francisco good use of local tax money I say.
I see Mr.Jesse needs to check himself, because my brother this does go on around you in whittier, La habra, Norwalk. What do you think we ask the thugs to wait for L.a.p.d ? It sounds like you will soon be a customer WHITTIER P.D. / SWAT Team. HOLD on Jesse, almost every city has their own SWAT TEAM. Knowledge will over power" stupid "any day of the week.
Got stuck in uptown after the service in 1970 I remember it as a cold harsh place.... By 73' I met friends that turned uptown into a magicaly warm friendly place... Met my wife there , still with her after 35 years..
