@@spindlesworkshop9744 thanks Luie! There’s a lot of wineries in my surrounding area, so pretty common to get the old/used barrels. Hope all is good buddy!👍🏼👍🏼
Well, nice clock. But I thought you were just being a smart-ass when you said the date. I'm glad you took the time to post the video but I thought you were actually back in the shop making something. 😂 Hope you're well, Bruce!
@@jayscott306 hahaha, I am a smart ass, but I had to post something and found this one in the archives! Had shoulder surgery back in January and I’m still enjoying the break. Shoulder is great, just need some motivation! Thanks Jay!
@@GordonRock1 hahaha, yeah 2022, found it in the archives 😃. Been a nice break from the dust, shoulder is back to good, so it’s time to get back at it! Hope you are doing well Gord, appreciate ya always!
Hey bud! Haven’t seen you in a good while. Got a chuckle at the end when you said something about it being 2022. Checked and yep, you just posted it. Love the clock. I’m using one to make pen a display. Looking forward to seeing you more often.
@@DougMilleratWoodSpunRound thanks Doug! Been a long time since I posted a video and found this one on the archives. Been a nice break from the dust, but time to get back at her! 👍🏼👍🏼
Nice carving. One small suggestion - make a simple drawbar to keep the mandrel tight in the headstock 2MT and it will never get loose again. I make them from a length of all-thread. And although I have that mandrel, I and my students far prefer the one Ruth sells that threads directly onto the lathe spindle.
Thank you John and thanks for the valuable information and checking out the video! I have since picked up the Nile’s 1.25” x 3/8” adaptor, which works excellent. Appreciate ya!👍🏼👍🏼
Hi Robert, the one I used in this video is one I picked up from Amazon (5/8” game call) it works. The one I use now is one I picked up from crafts supply www.woodturnerscatalog.com…much better!
really cool stuff, been making some of these for a while now and came across your video looking to make one for my mom for St Patricks Day..., but you kinda just snuck in the hats there, eh? i can see how you made the bowler/derby hat from wood, but where did that felt looking buckled top hat come from lol?
Thanks Tritian, appreciate you checking out the video! These are always fun to make. The felt hat I stole from my daughter, she had a couple of head bands that had the felt hats on antennas, I think they came from the dollar store. Again, thanks for checking it out 👍🏻👍🏻
Beautiful bottle stopper, Bruce! I hope your surgery went well, and the recovery is going wonderfully! 😎😎 Sorry it took so long to get around to watching this. Take care, my friend, …..Gord
Thank you Gord! Surgery went good, still tender, but started physical therapy last week and they keep making it hurt , hahahaha. How are you feeling my friend? Hope you are good! Thank you Gord.👍🏻👍🏻
@@skene59design thanks John! Surgery went good, start physical therapy at the end of February, hopefully good to go in a few months…hopefully. Appreciate ya!
Howdy Bruce sorry to hear about your shoulder, Hope you have a speedy recovery on your surgery, Take care buddy, Nice job on that bottle stopper it looks Awesome!👍
Bruuuuuuce! I'm still here waiting and watching as you are able to post. As you recover, be wary of your mind telling you to do stuff that your doctor/and or shoulder tells you not to. You don't want to end up like that homeless sea urchin we talked about a while ago. Take care, heal up, and we will see you soon. What, 3 maybe 4 days. Hehehehe.
Hi Bruce, That Honduran red Heart is amazing. Lovely looking bottle stopper. Really hope the surgery goes well and recovery is swift. Take care brother. Cheers, Huw
Good luck with your shoulder surgery. I had mine replaced three years ago and things are going really good. DO NOT Skimp on your Phy. Therapy it is most important. Hope this is a easy road to recovery. Thanks Tim
Nicely done. Bottle stoppers are so quick and easy. I really like this design. Praying your surgery goes well and that the healing and rehab is quick and complete. Keep us updated.
Thank you Doug, the stoppers never get old! The shoulder was hurting for a long time and was over due for a fix, lol. Hopefully back to normal in about 6 months! Appreciate ya!
I've been watching various videos on the bedan, making and sharpening. No one seems to want to say what angle they are grinding them to. Old video I know but maybe you'll see this. Thanks
thanks for getting back to me! I was trying out my new bedan tonight. Was doing great till I took away the tailstock and it didn't work as good.@@JordanWoodwerx
Nice work and great video simple and to the point. I am going to start turning some handles but most of my stock is 4/4 and 5/4. Is is safe to glue stock to make it big enough to make a handle and then turn it? Thank you
Thanks Michael, yes you can glue stock together for a bigger blank, just use a good wood glue like some titebond and proper time to cure. Thanks for tuning in!👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you Doug! Yeah been a while since I posted a video, figured I was due. 😃 hopefully I can get more content out on a regular basis. Thanks again Doug, have a great thanksgiving!
