I still find something is missing in this game. Like there is no impact that wants me to play more, I downloaded it yesterday, and played it for hours and believe me i have been waiting for this game for months, but the magic went away after playing it for hours.
I think delicate open world integrated housing system could be great for this game. Genshin's teapot was good but it was limited when it comes to build limit, size limit, and it was basically an empty doll house with limited build system. To show creativity and win over Genshin, I think Wuthering Waves really need to add creative, open world, and relevant housing system (like one in Once Human or Fallout 76) to really bring more builder fans into this game. Thank you for voicing this matter! Subscribed :D
I just finished the storyline and can say that it is a fantastic game! I really don’t get it why people are so angry about it and put it in a negative dark place. It’s a really hidden gem. The storyline, traversing and combat is magnificent and never seen it ever before, it’s unique in it’s own way. The devs definitely did a great job. Can’t wait to jump back in to do tons of stuff out there because the map is huge. Oh and btw i subbed because it’s and good and honest review. Hope devs continue with this new IP after all the negative hype train, it’s too bad it happened.
Thanks for the sub! I think it's a good game. I really enjoyed my time w it. Unfortunately the studio that made it has been shut down :C so we will prolly never see this IP again. It's a shame. The gaming market RN in general is awful, lots of studios closing. The negative attention was all it took to shut them down.
Awh RU-vid sucks sometimes w that! Thanks for commenting. I'm doing really well thank you! Extremely happy w my progress and excited for the future. hope u r well!
If ima be honest I’ve never really cared about the housing system outside of one gacha game I played Azur Lane. But it was more like a room system instead of housing, but they made it where you had NO CHOICE but to do it or your characters would be to exhausted to play with. But even though I don’t really care for it, I can see why others would love it so hopefully it could be eventually be added in the future
thanks for commenting C: Yeah I agree that it's not for everyone. I enjoy decorating, but that's why I think it would be fun to do like combat challenges or parkour challenges in the housing system. I'm imagining being able to set up echos as enemies to fight and like being able to set how hard it is. Would be kinda neat!
To me, a game with the "Role-Playing Game" genre attached to it should embody it well. Which means gameplay should compliment the lore and the story. Specially the lore more than the story at least for me. Combat and lore in a game is a dance. For Wuthering Waves, I find the lore intriguing as a scifi fan. It leans with soft scifi world-building hence sometimes it feels like it has fantasy elements or "magic." Think of Star Trek or Star Wars instead of The Expanse. Story-wise, it's written intentionally slow and meandering. Like Neil Gaiman's American Gods. One thing I find that it could've done better is the expository writing in the beginning Act I-II. To me it's fine, but to people with short attention span, it isn't. The writers should balance world-building exposition and pacing. For Act V, I share the same sentiment with the puzzle. They alluded it as being difficult but when you actually tried it, the open-world puzzles are harder. They did the same when the game implied that the canon shot is the last chance they got and it's all or nothing. But then when we actually get the shot, there's no hindrance and it felt that nothing is at stake. The barrier is literally a kilometer away from the canon. However, there is tension prior to the shooting of the canon which is the death of the soldiers guarding it. And yes, I love how the rovers felt like actual MCs. Overall, I think we need to get the entire Huanglong Arc to better judge it. Cause it ended with a cliff hanger. I have so many questions. Like the tokens given to us by Jinhsi. The bigger role of Black Shores and others. The flow of the premise where we started was disrupted by the Retroact rain and the impending attack of the TDs and the Threnodian (or its mob like Dreamless?). Now I'm expecting that we will get a conclusion to the aforementioned since the threat was temporarily extinguished. I hope that is. It's an ok start. But so far, all gacha games I've played from HSR, Genshin, HI3, Arknights, Nikke, PGR have this issue.
Wow, very thoughtful comment! Thank you for sharing! I am excited to see what they do with the future, and whether or not we can see improvements in future story contents
I didn’t vibe with the story at all even the ending was just ok, idk the story wasn’t that great to me overall and it felt like a chore to do unfortunately
Love the bosses so far. So many room for skill expression. They also have varied move sets. What I hate is the camera and the enemy lock. Like I died so many times with the crownless because when he do his flying dive attack, the camera doesn't zoom out and I can't see the fkn guy. 😂 With that being said, Kuro are huge fan of Nier, Souls games, DMC, and MGS and they're not even hiding their inspiration but instead msking memes out of them. Even bosses and characters in PGR share the same inspiration. I mean, Dreamless is literally called Dreamless - Blade of Extinction. With those wings, you definitely know who's the inspiration. One criticism though. I think they should either remove or prolong the timer especially in skill-based end-game content due to how mobile the bosses are. In PGR, they made their own end game with DMC-esque "stylish" system where your scores scale with how many combos you've executed properly which I think they dhould add in WW. If you wanna see what kind of bosses they've cooked, you can look at PGR bosses, especially the newer one. I must say, esrly bosses in WW are harder than the early bosses in PGR.
Thanks for commenting! Das tru that they aren't trying to hide the inspiration lol. Yeahhh they need to work on the targeting system definitely. Big agree energy there. I have actually played PGR and I would agree. The bosses we have now are p tough for the beginning of the game. Excited to see where it goes over time C:
I haven’t progressed my holograms far, tho now that I remember about them I’m going to push them, but right now world bosses are super easy for me, I built a pretty good rover, and her ult rn can crit (55% CR, 165 CD) do half of any world bosses hp, m1s and the rest of her kit also hurt, so eventually the world bosses just kinda become laid back imo
I've had that happen a couple times. They tend to maintain distance B4 an attack and that causes the AI to back up sort of constantly. I hope they fix it. I don't think they're terrible tho lol just not perfect. Thanks for commenting!
So I tried the tactical holograms. I know this is skill issue (and some camera and ping wonkiness), but I got wiped, lol. What is interesting though the Monke boss in the overworld I had an easier time defeating to farm for my Aero characters. Whereas I have found Tempest Memphis was annoying to fight because he was just darting all the place. The tactical holograms, however, that Monke hologram just wiped my whole team in a probably a few swipes. In contrast, in my best runs I got the Tempest Memphis down to a third health before he defeated me (and another where I ran out of time). And the Impermanence Heron just easily wiped me (I had no prior experience fighting him tho). All at Difficulty 1 btw
Thanks for sharing ur experience! The holograms are super hard, but tbh it's actually kinda fun imo. It's good to practice the bosses b4 trying the holograms, I think. Otherwise yeah they will just wipe ya. I can't even do enough damage to beat them yet. Lol.
I played Genshin on launch and maybe played it for like a year, probably less. So I haven’t played Genshin since like 2021 or so…that being said. The gameplay loop feels pretty much identical to how it felt to me when I played genshin 3 years ago. I think the best thing the game has going for it is the combat gameplay. I think parry and dodging is great because it allows for skill expression and are just fun mechs. There are some qol things that are really cool and the game isn’t terrible, but for me I remeber how excited and cool and how much I loved genshin with it launched and the familiarity of this game feeling too much like genshin kinda just took away that “brand new” feeling of a new game. Idk if I’ll play the game long term, but I’m at least having a bit of fun with it for now.
Thanks for commenting, and I largely agree with ya! Hoping Kuro games can shake things up as time goes on. If they follow Genshins formula too closely it's gonna b bad for the game I think
The constant Genshin comparisons by certain content creators with a desperate agenda is off-putting, to say the least. I hope the game manages to establish its own identity instead of being "Genshin but different combat." How did the comparisons work for the other games people were desperate to prop up as Genshin killers? The game needs to continue to be fun, not just another iteration - too many games, too little time. First things first though, the damn game has to run better. Keeps lag spiking for me. The auto targeting system is bad, yeah, and gets even worse when the camera starts glitching out.
Thanks for commenting! Big agree energy here. I hope they focus on first of all, fixing everything up. They really need to hunker down and sand out the rough edges. After that, they need to really dedicate some effort to differentiating the game from Genshin. Let's hope the devs hear these concerns, especially with lag and auto targeting. having intense combat requires smooth gameplay
8:30 I'd just like to share that if the text is cut off by the box, you can hover your mouse over the text and use your scroll wheel to see the rest (if you're on PC). It's quite dumb but its there. It seems that when they translate the text, each text box is translated individually and the kanji to English conversion does a little mass shifting beyond what the box can handle. Hopefully, the localisers find a workaround.
I think Kuro's decision to crib Genshin "bit for bit" and not gamble with innovative ideas of their own speaks not only to the state of gaming today but to the entertainment industry as a whole-the need to play it safe for the sake of their stockholders and potential investors. I believe they want to minimize risks and hit ROI asap on what looks like a huge expense creating and marketing the game (NY Times Square? That's insane! lol). So, like you've said, they took what was popular and ran with it, maybe planning to roll out their more creative, riskier designs and mechanics at a later phase of the game. We can only hope they're not predatory and pro-player by and large.
great comment! I think that tracks, and is definitely a part of the unfortunate reality of big budget games funded by investors and shareholders. I do think that you made a great point, that maybe they'll take more risks or iterate more as time goes on. we shall see!
One thing i will say is that i cant really agree with the first point. I think this game’s combat system is VERY different from genshin, i wouldnt compare it to genshin honestly. It has no element system whatsoever, sure we have types and all that but there’s no reactions and stuff which is what genshin centers around. WuWa focuses on mechanical skill, parrying, perfect dodges, and not to mention it has an amazing swap mechanic where your characters stay on-field to finish whatever move they were doing before going away which can make for some insane animation cancels and just feel like the characters are actually fighting together Overall the combat is miles different and id rather compare the game’s combat to that of a souls game than genshin. I also dont think i understand what you meant about the echo system being similar to genshin? You pointed out the big difference between them but you said they were different in a way which i didnt quite get. Cause honestly i dont see how else it could be made different as rolling for stats/substats and all that is just part of any game that his this type of relic system its not something that can be really made that unique but imo WuWa has done a good job of making that system unique enough from having to not level up substats and as you said collecting them by hunting down enemies around the world. WuWa is a completely different game to genshin and Personally the only thing the same imo is that its an anime based openworld rpg, its just a similar genre and ig maybe the UI. But other than that i agree with the other 2 points especially game polish 😭 them misgendering fem rover makes her feel like they favor male rover 😢
no worries! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Yes, the combat and movement is prolly the biggest difference between the two games. There are lots of details that are different, as well. but IG my critique is just that it feels like, in a broad sense, many of the systems are like slight variations of what Genshin did, if not exactly the same. I just want the game to have it's own unique place in the space. Have a good one!
One of my biggest issues with the game (not bug nor polish related) is in regards to the endgame modes. I like the idea of Holograms, I dont understand why there is a timer there. A person can only focus and tolerate getting beaten up by a boss so much before they quit, timer is not necessary. In fact, I would appreciate having challenging combat modes that is not basically Spiral Abyss 2.0. After Genshin and Honkai Star Rail, I am quite burned out on such content.
@@FlowCat My bad! I thought he/she's referring to the bosses in the rogue-like mode. Didn't notice he/she's referring to holograms. Thanks for clarifying btw!
My current biggest issue that annoys me to all ends is the auto targeting system, many times, when I don’t use the lock on, I will find my chars attacking the least viable enemy, whether that enemy be out of their range, off my screen, higher hp than the one I’m trying to kill, etc. Normally the solution to this problem is the lock on feature, but that isn’t always viable. The open world has some “boss tier” enemies, the ones that glow red, and those guys hurt, like one shot hurt, and further, a lot of the higher difficulty ones are groups of 2-4, I cannot risk taking my eyes off a single enemy or I am going to be hit with an attack that will kill my char, so I have to rely on the auto targeting system so I can keep my camera free and see all my enemies, but again, as I said, it likes to target the least optimal enemy which often gets me killed or drags out the fight way longer than necessary
But outside of that issue, I really like the echo system, I just wish there was something to do with excess echos, I currently have like a billion echos in my inventory that I’m not using and likely will never use (either too low rarity or has some odd combo like fusion element with spectro dmg bonus) and all I can really do is throw them out rn, I think it would be nice if I could use them to lvl up echos, especially considering how little echo materials the game gives, it takes a lot of effort to get a full leveled up echo team for one character, and it takes even more effort than the first to do another, but the overall system is great, it really encourages killing enemies, also another problem is how much things us, uuuhh I don’t remember its name, the resin of this game, I mean I am constantly struggling to have enough of it, any boss needs it for drops, I need it to collect char mats, I need it to collect almost everything, and there just isn’t enough
thank u for sharing ur thoughts! u can actually merge echos. If u go to the data bank and go to the bottom tab, there's an option to merge the old crappy ones into new crappy ones lol. it's like the strongbox. Resource scarcity is gonna be an issue for a while, that's how they're gonna keep us playing, but I feel it. The bosses n stuff costs more waveform (resin) and that feels bad.
I genuinely wish for Wuthering to succeed, i love the exploration and movement so much and the echo system both give me incentive to run around like crazy and murder on sight because free echos to the point i don't even use teleporters that much as I'd rather run across the map so i can kill echos along the way and i enjoy that
Thanks for commenting! I agree. I like it a lot more than artifact farming, and i enjoy that the various farming locations and tacet fields are open world things. You don't have to load into domains over and over to farm tuners and stuff.
Gonna try to have another video out in a day or two! Aiming to work on my speed to the point where I can do a video every day without burning out. How is launch going for you? Join Discord C: discord.gg/nPdhrJTPQZ
Yooo! That Danjin trailer slaps. I am also so loving the Jianxin and Lingyang trailers too. Also, I wonder if Aalto is going to be the Sampo of this game (from Honkai Star Rail). Sampo is also a sneaky character personality-wise, and I love playing him in Damage-over-Time (DOT) teams.
Ohh yeah gave me sampo vibes, for sure. I remember him! They were all surprisingly good. Not that I expected them to be bad, but that you could see the TLC in them! 😄
I appreciate your nuanced takes. You explain your thoughts so well. Most would just say that it's nice, or that it's mid, or that it sucks which doesn't really mean anything. I like that you elaborate.
They released the newest showcase right after I finished uploading this lol. I will do more of these in the future if ppl want em! VV-- DISCORD IN LINKTREE --VV linktr.ee/theflowcat
loved getting reccomended this video! most of the wuwa content creators are echoing the same stuff and the same style of content (including humor) but seeing your video and your channel made me really happy, actually! i don't know what it is but the way you explain things is very nice and soothing, like i'm having a conversation instead of watching a video? i hope i make sense here LMAO. but i'll be subscribing!! ty for the video :) hope to see more of your stuff soon
Tip 5 is just gold. There's so many people saying that you should or shouldn't do something, that you NEED to pull a character and should skip others....like.... Can't we just pull for the characters we like? And have fun with it? There's so much pressure of seeking meta
Exactly!!!!! If the game requires you to pull specific units to beat the game or have fun, then.. it's not going to be worth playing. I fully plan to ignore meta, find the characters I think are fun of neat, and focus entirely on building teams around them. C: Thanks for commenting ☺️
I spent the whole week watching every guide out there to be ready for launch. And in all honesty: This was hands down the best one I have seen out of ALL of them! You were spitting facts here. Thank you so much for actually bringing some sense back 🤣👌🏼 I think this could be the only one on everyone’s must-watch-list and they’d know everything they need (the REALLY important stuff). Bless you for this. It made me hit the bell immediately ❤ I’m looking forward to your content! (But no pressure. Take time to enjoy the launch first!)
Awhhhh this is such a kind, thoughtful comment thank you so much! U r so lovely and I hope you have an amazing time w launch! Maybe I'll see u in my streams or discord! 😊
Honestly, I was bobbing my head to that trailer on the livestream :3 And I agree. Everybody chill and enjoy the game (put the Genshin could never or Genshin clone mentality to the side). Lets just enjoy parrying some echoes. I still remember my early days in Genshin, and looking forward to exploring the whole of Wuthering Waves. Also, theorycrafting can be fun, I acknowledge that. Feelscrafting and creativity w/ teams can be fun, too. I just wish that ppl were more respectful towards each other, or even disagree respectfully (and have less of the elitism that can happen in gacha games).
**Some of the tip graphic thingies got misplaced bc of stuffs but also things. I am not sorry** I have another video coming out tomorrow! I will also have the livestream lobby up asap. VV---DISCORD IN LINK TREE---VV linktr.ee/TheFlowCat
Wuwa feels like a game thats setup for some very big highs but a lot of lows. The issue i see is not in any of the subjective elements but in being called a competitor. What the game becomes is a mystery but this build up sets a precedent. Creating posivity feedback loop means that any misstep will be seen with extreme scrutiny. Wuwa feels like the Temten or Palworld to Genshins Pokemon Its aesthetic have people assume there in a similar market but people fail to see that the games dont share an audience Wuwa success comes from how they adapt over the coming months not on launch. They will run out of content. They will have dry patches. They wont be able to meet all demands and wont be able compromise on all fronts And its up to players to stride and stay with the game when it has those patches. The issue Wuwa narrative soley fits around the Genshin sphere Its both expected to be different from Genshin but improve on the formula. Wuwa doesnt feel like it has an actual fanbase. It feels like it exist to generate a narrative about Genshin Even with combat characters like Jiyan have a auto combo in the kit. What does that mean for the future TLDR i have no faith because while comparisons were always going to be abundant. Wuwa identity is the Genshin (X) and Combat is its Only real merit right now Even then what happens when players get good Echos or Dupes or Weapons is it actually going to "Hard"
I don't agree with u entirely but there's some good points in there. Thanks for commenting! Never intended to make it sound like the game is going to be perfect or that it's set up for instant success. Just that I think this game has the best chance out of any to compete w Genshin. I don't think it'll dethrone the game but I do think that some of the things you mentioned are things that hopefully Kuro Games have considered after seeing how Genshin has done. All in all, it's all speculation for now. I'm choosing to be optimistic due to the companies track record of being quite generous and listening to their fans
@@FlowCat No I completely understand. I questioned even commenting because I didn't want to add any negativity to the discourse It just feels like there way to much hype. Like there's not enough of a counter narrative to balance out the discussion But thank you for commenting back. While I don't completely agree I want people to have a space where they can enjoy themselves and I hope for Wuwa success Because it means more people having more fun
@demonking-zm3rs that's very thoughtful of you, and I do agree. It's alllllllll hype rn which will create unreasonable expectations and will make ppl upset when it doesn't reach them. I plan to get at least one more video out B4 release, maybe I'll try to get another one out going over this
