Thank you so much!! I just started homeschooling my children today, for the first time. I bought the complete child and parent kit for 4th and 2nd grade. I want to say that I almost cried today. I felt so overwhelmed to read and teach every single thing on the lessons. It is sooo much! The work is so simple, but the prep is just way too much for me. I wish I hadn’t spent all that money on so much.
I’m in the exact same boat with my second and first grader. We started homeschooling this week for the first time and I actually did go to the bathroom and cry a little 😅 it really is overwhelming. I’ve also noticed they already know a lot of this stuff we are going over in the beginning.
Hello, thank you for the video. It was very helpful for me. This is my first year doing homeschool. My son is 10 years old and he is been using Abeka since preschool. I would like him to be more encourage in writing. What curriculums do you recommend for 5th grade? I already ordered Abeka but I'm thinking to corporate another curriculum for writing. We also do videos, and he loves hands on activities. Thank you so much for your time.
I have younger boys, 4th grade and an advanced 2nd grader….would this curriculum be doable for younger boys? My oldest is very mechanically, engineer minded.

how confident are you in teaching math? Did you like math as a student yourself and would you say you were good at it? How easy or difficult embassy’s it fit you to teach levels 3 and up? I don’t know if I want to choose to stick to level three in horizons or switch to teaching textbooks.

Hello! In the past, we have used Essentials in Writing with our 2 oldest sons for 4th, 6th, 8th grades (alternating years between EIW and ABeka). We have used different writing curriculum with our youngest son being he does not enjoy video instruction as much as our older boys have. (We try to tailor the learning to each of our sons’ learning styles as much as we are able to. 😊) This upcoming year, we are trying something new for writing with our youngest son - rising 6th grader (which I look forward to sharing in the future with our curriculum picks for the new year). Our middle son (rising 8th grader) also seemed excited about trying out the new curriculum, so we will be using it for him as well. 😊 We do, however, really like Essentials in Writing and would be open to definitely using it again!
Greetings from the UK! 🇬🇧 Love your videos and choices for 9th Grade! We start 9th Grade in the Autumn and I was wondering if you could share how long each subject would take on average for each day. I just need to get and idea as to how long each day may take. We tracked his hours for each subject so I will take a look at his log and give you an average time for each subject per day. (I will come on later today and share another comment response with the details. 😊) I think a four day week sounds wonderful… You would just have determine how to arrange things dependent on the home school laws in the UK (which I am unfortunately not familiar with) God bless you and your family as well! Thanks for this video. So helpful. Have y’all tried Saxon math. I’ve been curious about Shormann math. The website looks like the video lectures are a little dry. But I could be wrong. Thank you! 💛 We have (and continue to use) Saxon Math. The math sequence that has worked for as a family overall has been… Up to 2nd Grade- ABeka Math 3rd- 6th Grace- Horizons Math Álgebra 1/2 - Algebra 2 - Saxon Math Pre-Calculus- Shormann Math I understand what you mean about the lectures… We wouldn’t have been able to use it for our boys when they were younger because the lecture style is not as engaging as say the Nicole the Math Lady videos we have used with Saxon Math, but for upper level math it worked very well for our son. (I will try to share a more detailed video in the future. ) Thank you for being here… I look forward to checking out your channel. 🙂 God bless you!

Hello! 😊 It varies by day but usually about 4 hours is the time our 5th grader spends daily. I recently did a video explaining our block schedule and how I cycle around helping the boys. Great info! I like that you are ahead of me so I get info before I get to these grades. ☺ When you mentioned all the extras you add, I was thinking it will be great to see some examples of homeschool days - not necessarily with the kids, but with your materials and how you go around to using them. Any updates on the school binders you use? Also.....I like you mentioned you did not use that last book in your curriculum because it has darker themes - what other books/themes would you not recommend? What about all the books about greek mythology and other gods - would you not read them or maybe introduce them at an older age? (thinking here of a more classical education type of books) Thanks a lot!
