I am an artist who has spent the last few years improving my arts & craft skills. I like to try different things, although I have mostly focused on acrylic and oil paints, as well as fluid art and resin.
For this channel, I aim to try new art mediums and also explore new products. I am also going to participate in various art challenges for fun and entertainment. Plus I think trying new things and setting challenges helps develop better artistic skills.
@@lauras4472 I didn't have the ability to link in Ali. Just because I bought from a place doesn't mean a viewer needs to. I was linking to an easy place so people who see the pencils and feel inspired, can buy them too.
@@lauras4472 mine were too. I had a pencil that was salmon and another salmon one that was misspelled, but a slightly different colour. They are a Chinese brand so I think some mistakes were made when they created the colour names.
Amazing the prices of the goods from Temu. Makes you really wonder if it’s too good to be true. I mean, nothing better than sl*ve labour to produce cheap products … am I right?!
@@OzzieOzzieOzzieOyOyOy ultimately big companies have been doing this for years. Huge and very expensive clothing brands will often use cheap labour to produce their products. Amazon is full of the same products that Temu is selling, as are many large retailers. The only difference now is we don't have to pay the huge markups. People are struggling a lot financially and need to make the choices that work best for them.
@@lozantoninocreations Regarding Amazon I wouldn’t know. Firstly I hate how their workers are treated, and second, they don’t ship to my country. As for China, yes, I agree it is very difficult as many goods are made there, so as much as humanly possible, I compromise. If the item I want has components made, or the entire item has been made in China, and there is zero alternative, then I bite the bullet and buy it. If, however, I can buy goods that are made in other countries (such as all my clothes, shoes, white goods and furniture), then I refuse to buy an alternative that’s made in China. I’m not barefoot, naked and homeless yet.
I have found these to be terrific inspiration to try new color combos! I am glad that I bought the digital portion as well, it makes using the cards much easier for many things… nice review!!TY!🧑🏼🎨😀🌻
I agree. I actually didn't originally buy the digital ones, but immediately upgraded when I got my physical cards, as I could see how great the two would work together.
How does that hardcover Anko Sketchbook handles bleeding? I use a drawing pen, and I’m hoping the paper is thick enough. It doesn’t bleed bad, I’m just concerned about seeing through it behind.
Honestly I am not 100% sure as I never used it for that purpose, so it's only a guess. I think it's thick enough for a pretty normal drawing pen, but i don't think it would work for heavy ink use. Anything too wet would soak in and bleed through. Thanks for watching.
I didn’t realize there were paintings in Minecraft. I think I loved the first piece as well. I’ve never used alcohol markers, but the layering technique looks relaxing and fun.
The colors on your landscape are so bold & pretty! And watching you add texture to the mountains was satisfying. You really erased them from existence at the end. 😆
I've had Ohuhu duel brush markers (definitely the same thing, just differently branded) for yeeeaaarrsss and they all still work, so those markers are definitely a great bang for your buck!
I still need to fully learn these markers. They seem to be pretty decent. I'm not used to water based markers. For the price, I was expecting a couple of dry markers and everything I received was perfect and vibrant. It's such a great deal I got with these. Thanks for watching 🙂
Thanks. I had fun with it, but even mine didn't go smoothly, since the first one was a disaster. I would still recommend it to people who love painting, as you can always fix mistakes and it's just some harmless fun. It took pressure off, as I didn't have to create something from scratch, I just went with what was there and added to it. 🙂
I like how you made the second painting more vibrant and colorful. Beautiful transformation! I'm personally not a fan of oils. I tried them once and I felt so lost. I didn't understand how to care for them or clean the brushes. It's hard finding a good tutorial.
❤️ Thank you. It was a fun project. I'd like to do it again, but do something more drastic next time. When I started oil painting, I found it so hard to find the right information. I did do a small in person class and learn some things, but it still wasn't enough. The best tip I would give anyone is to just clean brushes with dishwashing liquid and water. It breaks down all the oils and your brushes are then almost good as new. I actually use lavender soap which is a brush soap and smells nice. When I started I used turps as I thought you had to, and it was so toxic and I can't even imagine how bad it was for my little cats, when I could still smell it for days. I now try and use oils in non toxic ways.
@@lozantoninocreations I’ve always worried about the toxicity and got intimidated by it. I didn’t know about lavender soap. I might try it again now. Thank you!
@@CourageousPainting I use Gamlin products too to help with the painting. They have some non toxic mediums that are fast drying. I love that technology has improved so much that oil painting can now be done fairly safely. ❤️
OMG I love this! I get thrift store paintings all the time just for the frames, but ive never thought to add to the painting already there. So cool!! I love both paintings!! Well done my friend!!!
Thanks. Customising stuff is always so much fun. 🙂 We surround ourselves with so many wonderful oil artists that always make me want to learn more and lift my game. I want to try some Chuck Lee style paintings one of these days.
I am usually very good at color coordinating. I know what colors look good together and which are iffy. I see them all the time in my head. 😂 Anyways, these still come in handy for scenarios I don’t see in my head or let alone haven’t even thought about. 😊 So while someone said it’s a learning experience by experimenting yourself, one can still very much benefit from these cubes. I ordered the 2 today so can’t wait to get them.
I would agree with you on that. I find there are definitely a lot of colour combos I would use and wouldn't bother with a reference for. I find the colour cubes are better for me, with colours outside my comfort zone. It can get me away from using the same core colours. I hope you enjoy cubes too 🙂
Thanks so much. I tell you, it's all the paper. I hear people say that so much for water colour and I think it's true for pastels too. It gave me so much control.
Thanks. Honestly, it all comes down to having the right paper. I asked Lindsay the Frugal Crafter what she recommended for colour pencils a while back and she gave two suggestions, and one was pastelmat. Having that already available to me has made learning pastels so much easier. I do make mistakes though. I added the black to the face early on and did smudge it a few times. I needed placement of the eyes. I'm not experienced at all with animals, so I wanted to get the features in early. Lindsay also recommended in one of her videos to buy bulk eye shadow applicators for pastels and those really helped too. I have to say too, the black pencil is so black. It reminded me of the blackest black paints. The textured paper I guess helps as there is nothing to reflect.
I said in the video that this is my first time trying the pencils. This is an error, since I did try them once in January as mentioned in the video. I will blame being a little sick still when I recorded the VO. It was a struggle on my voice, so I just did the best I could on the day :)
I absolutely love the underwater theme! I'm so sorry to hear about your losses. I lost my older sister at the age of 27. And like you said, once I hit 28, it felt so wrong to know that I was older than her and had lived more than she had. Art really is the best therapy. Stay strong, girly. ❤
Thank you. I'm sorry you lost your sister too. It's so horrible losing people young. I still fail to really understand 'why'. I know I'm not alone in that and we all ask those questions. ❤️
That’s very sad about your losses. 😢 Art is such a therapy, and your thrift shop makeover is so gorgeous! ❤ It’s funny, Christmas Day 2019 is the day I posted my first video! The 20’s have been abysmal so far, but I’m very grateful for my channel.
Wow there was something in the air back then. Thank you. Art definitely is a great escape. I can get very lost in it and completely forget about everything else going on.
Part of the fun (and challenge) of coloring is learning from experience which colors go together. Sure, I've had situations where I picked a wrong color and wadded up a page to throw in the trash, but I learned from it.
Sorry. There are a lot of comments on this video about it. I naturally talk fast and found that when I would script videos and read voice over, that I struggle and it then stresses me out that I would talk too fast when I would read the script. I'm not very good at speaking to an audience (like so many people) and recording it, but it's something I've been working on and will continue too. It is one of my biggest flaws. It's even worse in RU-vid, because we all come from different areas of the world and it makes accents a problem too and that's much harder to understand when people speak fast or not clearly.
@@lozantoninocreations I am so sorry if I hurt you with my comment. That was NOT my intention. I am so sorry. I admire you for making videos especially now that I know you find it hard to speak in public. And thank you for your honesty, courage and vulnerability. We need much more of that in the world.💕 Say hi to your new subscriber from the Netherlands.😃👋🏻 Much love, Brigit.💕💕💕
@@brigitvanrooij1689 I'm not hurt. I just like to explain myself, as I've had a lot of comments on this video about it. Thank you so much for the sub. ❤️
