I first found out about St Peter in Beauvais when I sort of blundered into taking Art History for picking up some humanities hours where I was in college at the time. Fell totally in love with the subject, especially Medieval architecture. When first shown a slide of Beauvais, taken from a distance, my immediate reaction was "Where's the rest of it?". In that shot it looked taller than it was long. Fascinated by the story, too--this was all done with hand tools and hand-operated cranes.
