Tony Award Winner for Best Book & Best Score, Suffs is "the perfect show for where we are now" (The Wrap). Book, music, and lyrics by Shaina Taub. Directed by Leigh Silverman. Now on Broadway.
With the maiden name Blitch, I really needed this song while I was growing up! We were in the house for the first show just after Shaina won her Tonys. A magical evening indeed.
I'm currently listening to the soundtrack, and with every song I get angrier that this didn't win best musical. The Outsiders was fantastic, too. But I mean, COME OOOOONNNNN.
hi!!! i’m here to say the same exact thing i was obsessed with outsiders for the last month but i saw this yesterday and WOW!! this certainly deserved best musical for sure
I got to see this on my trip to New York last week. Knew nothing about the show before and loved it. Really hope it comes to the UK eventually so all my other theatre friends can see it.
I see Broadway plays every week and I loved every minute of this musical. It was stirring and at least someone is speaking out since the ERA isn’t even passed yet. I hope the critic on this page take a look at their history and wake up. it’s a fantastic show and I thought the singers at every moment were amazing with gorgeous voices and passion. go and see the show. It’s more exciting than most out there.
LOL, some of the comments here sound like the kind of anti-suffs men who make all those feeble slogans and puns against women's right (which the Suffs marketing uses as marketing as intentional irony). I've seen the older Public off-Broadway version (which was waaaaay different) and it featured an anti-suffs ensemble who spew anti-suffrage jokes. Many of you sound like them.
@@chazarcola7639 Oh sweetie did you have trouble staying on point? That’s ok. Congrats to them! Have many friends and colleagues in several productions and thrilled for Outsiders nabbing Best musical and Director with Suffs nabbing Best Score and Best Book, which, in case anyone needs a translation, means they had the best story and music. Congrats to all. Love any excuse to celebrate with other intelligent and passionate artists.
@@chazarcola7639 Oh honey I’m all good and pretty loving with everything I said there. 😊 Ooh that’s not what triggered means. You should leave this section for the grown ups. I’m sorry your life must be very unhappy. I feel for you. I’m surrounded by all good things. Have a wonderful day sweetie.
Doris just did bad things like took a book from library and never returned, but an old man called she bitch, which means they do not care about what you did and just want to call you bitch. So don’t feel embarrassed about it and be proud of it because they are scared of you and scared your successful in the future. They hope you feel shame then they can control your emotions. Always be proud of yourself because you deserve it!
it is so interesting how many of the performers are really weak singers, and then you have jenn collella and nikki renee james. like were there not enough strong singers who auditioned??
It's almost has if they were more interested in casting strong actors rather than singers. Collella and James are also both really strong performers. Same with the cast with in the video.
Your comment is insulting. There’s a place in hell for women who discourage other women from trying to do better in the world should be ashamed of yourself
There’s nothing wrong with your ears. This is lazy casting. If you’ve spent literally ANY time within any kind of NYC theatre circles, you know there are thousands of insanely talented triple threats out there looking for work. The comment about ‘they wanted stronger actors’ is so ridiculous. Being a well rounded performer is USUALLY what is required to work on Broadway but this show seems to have casted purely off specific characteristics. Some of these women are downright untalented. To the people defending this casting, being a sycophant doesn’t make you cool or edgy or ‘progressive’ it means you don’t have any respect for the art form or for the people who work incredibly hard on their craft. Some of these women are community theatre level at best.
