That's really cool that he is your great uncle. A great fantasy author. Does the family still live in, or near Terre Haute?

I correspond with him regularly. He's the only author who answers all his mail, and still does. I'm 50 and have loved his works, starting with Xanth in the late 70's/early 80's, then progressing thru his SciFi. Macroscope should have won the Hugo. He does have some books that are adult themed, and some folks criticize the content of some of his other books, they seem to judge HIM on the content he writes, which really pisses me off. He's a friend and one of my main inspirations for how to live life. He's a very peaceful, intelligent, compassionate man who had lived through much in his life

Is there somewhere with a link to writing him? I’ve met Terry brooks and would love to write Piers Anthony and thank him for many decades of books to read.

I exchanged letters with him briefly in the late '90s and he made a character for me in Xanth. I adore him.

I read Phillip Jose Farmer and Piers Anthony at the same time in my early teens. I feel lucky fantasy novels were my primary influences 🥰

I failed to mention in the video that our edition of Jesus on Mars includes an introduction by Tracy Knight, an afterword by Keith Howell (who is also the cover artist) and in addition to the novel itself, a 26,000 word abridgment of the novel that was supposed to appear in Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine.

I’m so happy to have found real live people discussing Philip Jose Farmer! I just started reading his works last year, and he has quickly become my favorite author. It blows my mind how few people seem to know of him. I can’t wait to come back to this video once I’ve read all of the books mentioned. P.s. Is Jadawin really pronounced like Jay-duh-win? I’ve been saying it like Jah-dah-win to myself!

Mr Anthony, RU-vid keeps taking down your books and deleting channels that post them. If this is not your doing, then we are suffering the suppression of literature and I ask you to help us fight back by starting your own channel and uploading your audiobooks before we loose you. I want to dare RU-vid to delete your own channel with your own hard work displayed and force them into publicly damning themselves for the illegal suppression of literature. If it is your wish your books do not appear on RU-vid, I would ask you to reconsider your position. Where I live there are no libraries or book stores and deliveries are very difficult to receive. RU-vid is almost the only source for a poor person to have access to books.

Did Phil still "edit" your work? You mention that he requested some modifications near the end. It doesn't seem like a heavy-handed editing. How was he to collaborate with?
@donaldsimpson2237
@donaldsimpson2237 4 года назад
It would be interesting to hear a discussion about collaborating with a living author vs. something like the Conan situation, where L. Sprague de Camp and Lin Carter posthumously "amended" Robert E. Howard's manuscripts, outlines, etc. What are the ethics and standards you tried to adhere to?
