He should have been the world champion, but broke down the first six motos of the season, and missed the championship bye a few points, I’m glad he whacked Stanton in the pits, god bless him 🏁🇬🇧🙏
Unfortunately it seems that SUZUKI team was not as good as he hoped ! The grass is rarely greener on the other side , Healey was awesome on that KTM and the thing was a very fast bike , not to mention he had a totally dedicated and loyal mechanic - a real tight unit , KTM’s have always produced awesome 2 stroke motors and it was far better than anything Japanese in terms of spread of power , those who know they know but as usual money talks and I’m sure the decision to leave KTM was mostly money motivated . shame Mike didn’t get the results he deserved or that championship in 1991 which would have been awesome for such an underdog and on a bike not considered to be the best and in such a small team would have made such a victory even more special . Well Mike will be remembered more than any championship as a flamboyant show man , hard and wild charger , he made his mark on MX and can say he was one of the best in that period and certainly a favourite of the fans .

I was dave thorpes age in the 80s. But between farming etc, I didn't have access to cable TV or time to watch it. So I missed most open class gp's. But I followed them on various mx magazines, thank God for mx magazines or I would have never known what was going on. I was a true motocross only fan. And I rode a little bit also. Thanks for letting me vent, I'm happier now. May all motocrossers and riders watching this have a lot of safe fun, okay? ''😎👌, okay. All I can say is WOW!!!. 😎👍.
Most people don't understand just how much power these 500's have. It's like riding a rodeo horse for an hour or more. Riding a bucking bronco is only a few seconds and those guys get beaten up bad.
