I started with a 10'5 x 32 starboard wide point and now I reduced for one 9' x 31.5" manufactured by a Brazilian local shaper. I hope one day reduce to a 8' but confort for me is very important. Thanks for all information!
"eyes up" made a huge difference in my surfing! All tips are really important. One tip the is very difficult to me is "paddle position". As I am regular (right foot on the tail of the board), go to right is natural, but surfing to left is always a problem. It's hard to me keep the paddle in the wave wall. Let's practice! Thanks for the tips!!!!
So guys, please forgive my opinion but the hacks, the paddle shifts ,the paddle digs in the water while making a frontside turn. What does all that needless waste of energy and motion mean? From a dedicated SUPer. Ps for beginer SUPers out there there is no need to hack at the wave coming down the line while your board is powered. Gives us a bad look..
Hi Nosara team! I'm learning surfing with a 10'3" x 32" stand up board but I'm using my friend's paddle. I'm thinking to buy one with a length of 1.65m (I'm 1.72m). It'll be from my feet to my forehead. What do you thing about it?... Is it good for beginners?
Hi Edgar! So it depends on how much you are floating or sinking into the water. But basically for performance SUP Surfing we like to surf with paddles between our chin height and our forehead. Somewhere in that range tends to offer best results!

Having some balance issues paddling for the wave, noticed they are virtually in the surf stance as they are going for it. The girls position is similar to mine. I’ll have to change it as she is having the same initial take off issues. Cool once I’m on the the wave but a few early struggles. Nice waves, thanks.
Sure is, here you can read more about it. www.surfcamppeaksnswells.com/2013/08/30/one-secret-to-add-speed-and-power-to-your-surfing/ or watch this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j69MZL9Vbyo.html
both examples seem correct. The first wave was too small and weak and his board is bigger so it would be hard to surf it top to bottom. Mo's wave was way more powerful and his board is almost as small and compact as a short board (7'4" x 22) allowing for the U line approach.
Hi guys, congrats for your paddle Surf coaching videos. They all fantastic and I watch them again and again....I am actually a rookie wave sup surfer, not coming from surf or snowboard neither skateboard unfortunately , but from 6 years flat-water cruising Sup and only last two years learning how to ride small to medium waves (1,5 - 2,5 mts) here in the Med. Furthermore I am a gofy. ....at least I think I am....hehehe. Cannot find any "gofy clip" for basic sup wave manouvers and on the regular position videos, have to switch my brain and think "opposite" like in a mirror....which is even more complicate than it looks. Could you please help ?
Hi there Fabio! That's wonderful! One of our senior coaches is goofy too! We will make sure to put together a coaching video of a few key maneuvers and have both regular and goofy examples! Cheers!!
