Hello plant friends, new plant dad here. Follow along my plant journey and get ideas about plants, plant care, home automation for plant care, tips, and hydroponic gardening. NYC.
Great videos. I am awaiting the shipment of my first personal rise garden. Can you use different empty pods that are less expensive that work in this system?
Do you still have the Rise? If so, how is it still holding up? I have read reviews of parts going out 8 months to a year in and that support is horrible.
Add more nutrients to rise EC level. It depends on stage of growth to increase EC over time. I found that if I kept EC around 140-180 my garden did well.
I'm just starting to watch your videos so you may have already answered this question. Are you mainly using pre-seeded pods from Rise? or are you seeding pods with other seeds. I have a lot of seeds from Baker Creek that I would like to experiment with. I'm getting ready to order this Rise 3 tier systems. Thanks !
Yeah, let us know if you are still using it regularly and your opinions? I'd like to know how long each bottle of nutrients last and how different trials of pants have gone.
I took a break from gardening, but it has worked well for over two years. I used Canna Aqua Vega A + B also. The usage will vary depending type of plants, tomatoes required a lot of water.
Hi! I just ordered a Rise Family Garden and your videos are super helpful! Thank you! I hope you will do an update video and let us know how it's going.
Just found this. Awesome. I’m an outdoor gardener who’s in the market for a good-looking but practical, good quality hydroponic system. To create an indoor farm.
Plant Daddy, I really enjoy your videos. May I ask you to post a long for two of your modifications? (1) Upgraded pH pen and (2) Grow Fans. Thanks! I’m subscribing now.
Another great informative video! Thank you. I just purchased the Rise Garden 3 level. They no longer send any sensors and are using the smart care system. Have you switched over to the smart care system and what are your thoughts on this? Also have you started using any device for measuring nutrients? If so what brand?
Thank you! Congrats on the garden. Since I have been hydro gardening for a few years and trying some personal experiments, my gardening style has evolved to be familiar with nutrient levels and monitoring pH levels in my garden. I prefer to use the meters. Here is a meter that might be similar to what came with my garden: 3 in 1 Water Quality Multi-Parameter pH EC Temperature Meter by TEKCOPLUS (this meter is good enough to get the job done, there may be better ones on the market, but I still use it to this day for reading EC levels) However, I purchased the BlueLab pH pen to make sure my pH level reading are accurate. If you decide to use the meters, make sure they are calibrated. I try to calibrate mine every quarter or 6 months, and this may vary depending on usage. Happy growing!
Hello imaplantdaddy, Thanks for explaining how to clean the Levoit humidifier. Greatly appreciated. Additional idea to consider: Try adding 10 drops of NutriBiotic Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE), 4 oz bottle, to the water tank before using each time. It kills bacteria and mold and prevents growth.
May I ask a question? I bough the iHarvest instead of the rise garden for multiple reasons, but I could get a used rise garden for a really good price. The main reason is that the lights aren’t adjustable… I was told it is very important that the lights are as close as possible to the little plants so that they don’t grow leggy. With the rise garden, you bannit adjust the lights… have you experienced problems? Thank you very much!
The height of the garden is fixed. The light duration appears that it can be adjusted on a light schedule from 1 to 24 hours, but 16 is recommended. The light intensity can be lowered, but it will return to normal intensity on the next cycle of the light schedule. The plants grow well in the Rise Garden. The only time leggy seeds would be an issue is if during germination it was too far from the light source. Once plants are a bit mature it didn't seem to be an issue for me. If you get a multilevel garden, germinate on the top level. Hope this helps.
Love the information you have provided. Just got my system delivered the other day and will be putting together. Will definitely be using the advice and some of your suggestions. Love the drain hack and fans
Do you just pluck a few leaves at a time for a daily salad? What did you do with all that dill you harvested last week? Did you dry and store most of it?
For some leafy greens I cut a few leaves for a daily salad and assembled my own mix, or used them for sandwiches. In regards to the dill, I did dry most of it.
Your humidifier looks brand new! Did you clean it before making this video? I clean mine about every 2 weeks and using it 50% of the day on average. And it always has a layer of brown gunk between cleanings!
For the first year I did great with no pests, then I experienced spider mides. I recently shut down and deep cleaned my garden. If the garden is monitored and cleaned frequently and a fan is used, it should deter pests.
Great video Thanks for sharing , ! I have 3 Aero gardens ,hydroponics., for about a year now. Am harvesting wonderful greens, Herbs, & cherry tomatoes. I’m a Greatgrandma, & learn so much from videos like yours. God bless.
Please cut the intro music volume down quicker (maybe after the first 20-30 seconds instead of the 2 minutes it is now). It’s hard to hear the words with the music
Would love to see more of how it works and how it compares to something like aerogarden. Some sample questions for a future video - how big is the tank? is that whole box at the bottom a tank? Does it pump the water to the top 24/7 or does it do it in cycles? Do the lights turn on and off on a cycle?
Good practical tips. I don’t have a rise garden but will be using some of this in my DIY hydroponic setup. It would be good to link the items you used in the description of the video (Amazon links can make you a little bit of money too)
@@imaplantdaddy you are sooo amazing..you literally build your IOT system by yourselves...May i check how did you connect your USB fan to the Smarthing hub? Did you connect them via USB port? Or your fan has bluetooth --the fan looks pretty basic to me..Thanks
@@vyctoriatran1021 Thank you! Use "AC Infinity Turbo Fan Power Adapter, for MULTIFAN Series USB Fans" to connect fans to plug, then plug it into the Smartthings plug. Then use Amazon Alexa "routines" in the app to set up fan schedule. Cheers.
