What about priming? You don’t account for anything… probably some QA/QC wannabe that comes in to the cleanroom to hover over us and make sure we have timers instead of following SOP. If you aren’t in the trenches, you don’t know

Hello, I would like to ask you one thing for Mongolian dressers. Our Mongolian dressers train their horses for 3 seasons of the year and prepare for long-distance races. Unlike other countries, in short, the problem faced by Mongolian dressers is dry tongues. The problem is that veterinarians cannot clearly explain this because the science of horses in Mongolia has not developed as fast as in other countries. or ask veterinarians for help

Finally someone explaining how to apply a leg bandage covering the fine points on the direction in which you apply! I see so many people wrapping backwards when doing supports wraps pulling at the tendon and wrapping at the bone. Although it’s not critical on a wound bandage used to cover wounds when pressure is not needed. I always wrap the same way regardless just to be safe. Thank you for explaining the process. I’ll be sharing this video to those who say It doesn’t make a difference…

THIS IS NOT ABUSE! YOU UNEDUCATED PEOPLE IN THE COMMENTS!!! The effect the nose twitch has in the horse is twofold, they act as a distraction and also cause the horse to produce natural endorphines that help it relax in a stressful situation, somewhat similar to acupuncture or acupressure. Some horses once the twitch is correctly applied become relaxed and almost "floppy" about their ears and nose as though doped up with medication. Sometimes it takes longer to kick in!!!

I would like more info. After the flesh is excised, how is it prevented to allow normal healing. You say you use "dressings that reduce the formation of proud flesh" Such as what?

Nice video however I would never hold a pointed object this way. You can easily achieve the same holding the tube parallel to the eyelid as she said , not as it is shown. Horses can make sudden moves and I would never risk poking the eye even if it is just a plastic tipped tube.

Hold the vial on the table and insert the needle while it’s there. Putting the needle in the vial while it is in mid air is asking for a needle stick injury.

I’m really confused because the vial I got is so tight with the air when I try to draw the fluid out and just pull the plunger back into the syringe nothing comes out don’t you need to push air in there or something?

See this is exactly how I tried to get mine out I don't know what the issue is with my birth control this month I've never had an issue until this month but even with me holding it upside down like I always do I was just having such an issue getting the liquid to completely suck up into the syringe in a single stick I had to do it three times and I still didn't get every last drop but I didn't want to do it again because I was going to hurt myself with a dull needle if I kept going. I never had this issue before I will say it was a different needle this time they were out of the 21 gauge and gave me a 23 so I don't know if that had something to do with it but I thought maybe I was doing it wrong but I literally did it just like you're showing in the video.

Does proud flesh only grow below the knee? My gorse has an open wound on his chest from a bruised muscle. He is two years old. Should I worry about proud flesh?

Proud flesh may be more common in lower limbs, but it can grow almost anywhere. It also appears in humans.

This video is unbelievable. When you put a chain over the nose, it should be wrapped around the nose of the halter so that it doesn't slip down. Another issue someone else mentioned is the improper way the chain is snapped to the halter. It's distressing to see that this video has been viewed 21K times.

Epona...Respectfully, there isn't one way to use a chain shank. I use it this way and it works for me. I can show you results, not once but 1000 times over 28 years of being an equine vet. I gently but firmly deal with horses that need treatment and their owners or handlers have not developed a relationship of respect. I use it only as long as I need it and, only as severely as I need to. Often I accomplish what I need to accomplish in a minute or two, and it's over and either it simply sits there and isn't used, or it can be removed and the goal can be attained without it. I only use it when a horse requires signal that cannot be attained by the use of another device. In my case, I use it because others have not properly trained their horses. I don't have the luxury of spending days or even hours to attain something. if I need to get a sick horse in the trailer that the owner cannot load and that rears when it gets near the trailer, then if I spend 5 minutes with a properly functioning chain shank and load the horse so it can be transported to the hospital, am I not doing the horse a favor? You can talk about a method, but really the effectiveness of the method is what matters. If you wrap it, in my experience, I lose the ability to vary the tension on it and I cannot release it. A wrapped chain is like a hard or metal nose band. It is a different tool than what I am describing here and I could have described that but that was not the tool I wanted to describe. The biggest problem with the way I use it is with the release and I made note of that in the description. It can bind and binding can be a disaster. Why don't you post a video of your use of a chain shank. Be sure to ask the horse to do something it is not willing to do, and show how the use of the wrapped chain works to help you achieve it. Maybe I will learn something new that I can use in the future. Technically right about the snap- a good idea to turn it the other way. In practice, I have used a chain a lot. Never once had it come loose.

@@drthal33 Just because there ARE many ways you CAN do it, doesn't mean those ways are CORRECT. Clip out, and WRAP the chain over the nose band to prevent it from slipping over the nose. I've seen it happen where improper use has caused injury or distress.
