Shut up Nathan. I made a stand against a bully. Because me and others made this stand, a young man has a RU-vid career. Not only that, but what is this “nothing” you speak of? I’ve done more in my music career than you’ll achieve if I gave you 100 years.
I think one of the reasons people can get caught on trying to learn something that is way out of reach, is just being underexposed to the art / field / etc. As a largely self-taught musician, I fell into the trap early on of wanting to play things way above my level- until I found things that excited me that were within reach. There are different possible variations of “the basics” that can give people some sort of a foundation to build from. I recognise there are limits on how wide you can range as a teacher with only limited time, but I think if a student isn’t excited by anything within their reach yet, try and find something within their reach that does ignite interest.
this is absolute madness. I never liked the last few bars of the original solo but I really dig this ending. I will be definelty stealing that last part haha
lmao replacing a nut takes seconds, just pull the strings aside when tey are slack, knock it off ih a hammer and slap a better nut in...litearlly seconds
i throw in my shameless plug for him that during high school in Fayetteville, even though i was a guitarist at the time and still am, Jimmy who's one year my junior was at the Terry Sanford talent show on a Thursday night playing Carry On/Kansas, while i was out likely smoking weed. my playing was mitigated by an unfocused life at the time, but Jimmy has always been super talented, a gentle happy soul and still is today, and an absolute phenom in every way with guitar. he inspires me today as i continue to jam along with my 3 other siblings - we all still play. we talk about Jimmy and of course this song i will post in my family Music chat as well. we love you, Jimmy - keep on keeping on the way you so magically do :). (note: Aberdeen/song name here, is a town some 40 miles South of Fayetteville, NC where we went to high school).
I seriously doubt hitting a few notes on come together ruined his voice. What I would put it to is age, use, cigs and drugs. Look at the great Chris Cornell. His voice changed on almost every album when he was younger and by the time hd was 50 it was completely different. Guys who sing rock and use distortion in their vocals hit it hard. Even guys like Eddie vedder can't sing the way he used to
Well you can put it to what you want, one of us is coming from a position of knowledge (my partner is an experienced singing teacher with a masters degree) and one of us is blaming smoking and drugs when Zakk doesn’t smoke or do drugs. 🤷 You half get it though. Guys who sing rock and use distortion hit their voice hard. If you do that with bad technique (as clearly shown in Come Together or the numerous other unsupported performances I’m happy to share) you will pay a price. Zakk paid that price. Fact.
@@LeviClay he did drink like a fish though and he's in his 50s now. That's all it is. Vocals change. He still sounds good but no rock singer sounds in their 50s, like they did in their 20s. Name one that does and uses distortion. Cornell,Johnson,Keifer.....the list is long. Even guys that don't. Plant's voice was never the same after 72. To say the guy ruined his voice on a few notes is comical. Maybe if he screamed for a day straight.
@@rickchyczewski576 where did I say he ruined his voice BECAUSE of a few notes? Learn to listen. Those are an OBJECTIVE SYMPTOM of the problem. You are hearing damage happen in real time because of a lack of technique and support. I’m sorry you don’t like that. That’s a fact. Those aren’t the only example, they’re just the one I jump to.
Sometimes the hardest thing to hear is that we don’t actually know what we’re talking about. That’s ok. You’ll move on with your life like nothing happened, you’re used to it by now.
Remember when there was a thing called Quality Control?!! I ordered an EVH Stealth Black 5150 guitar…. It came straight from the Mexico factory with oil and a thousand fingerprints all over it. The ebony fretboard was so dry it looked almost white!! Volume and tone pots were crooked and scraped against the body on one side. Cavity plates were so scratched, it looked like a cat was playing frisbee with them!! You’re right…. That crap is unacceptable!!
I remember seeing this when he did the video and thinking it was incredible cool. Andre is special. Very special. In a good way! Awesome, awesome player!
Technically, that looks incredibly difficult, and I'm sure it ABSOLUTELY is. It would take 2 lifetimes for me to do it, if ever. However, It's just a bit TOO busy, and WAY too much going on, and it seems to have lost the groove or pocket of the original. I'll take the original. But damn that's some fantastic skill!
Agree! It completely lost the point of building the solo to that crescendo. Marty slowy builds the speed to the climax, but this guy is sweeping all over the place way too early that the proper speed section doesn't have the same impact. Incredible technique alone does not = a great solo. IMHO
really good dexterity but completely ignores the best part of the solo (0:51) , doesnt seem to have control of the microtones (like how Jason Becker makes bends sound like whale singing)
No disrespect to Marty, but if you’ve ever heard the demo with Chris Poland you realize Marty is doing Chris. But Marty has built a career off that solo so, I probably wouldn’t say anything either.
@@th3dumbGu1tark1d Watch again, he uses the pick a couple of times and shifts it to the inside of his palm...not sure how he keeps it there while he's finger picking though...
WTF André!!!??? This is TOTALLY INSANE!!! André Nieri it's definitely an alien! 👽🛸 There are so many things that leave me totally shocked: His phrasing, his timing, the natural fork in which he makes the solo totally his own but without abandoning the intention and feelings of the original solo, I don't know, there are so many incredible things here happening all at the same time that it's even difficult to know what to appreciate first. This man is incredible, that's why he is one of my favorite guitarists, he simply leaves me speechless! 🤯🙌🏻
